Temperature sensor??

I have a 3rd gen. 4runner (1998) and am looking to get a outside temperature sensor. i would like to be able to hardwire into vehicles 12V power, but i guess battery powered would be alright too. Anyone done this or know of a good/cheap temperature sensor??? I am looking to spend only around $30 for the sensor.... and doing everything else myself. let me know if anyone knows of anything...thanks!!

I was going to say Radio Shack, but I looked at their Web site and don't see any current models for sale. Years ago, before the thermometers were factory, I was satisfied with Radio Shack units.
No clue beyond that.
