Resurrecting an old thread.
Mine had started to develop faint cracking in the finish so I used the above instructions and pulled everything apart to do a CF wrap. Personally, I don't see it turning out well if you don't take it completely apart in order to apply the vinyl around all of the edges.
It took about 2 hrs from start to finish and a $10 roll of CF vinyl from Amazon.
