My wife and I decided to spend the first few hours of Christmas Day with her family and then take off camping. We spent the second half of Christmas Day driving to the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas and arrived about 5:30 pm. We rolled into camp after dark, but thankfully someone passed on some coordinates to a nice secluded spot so it wasn't hard for us to locate it. Fair warning, I take pictures of my vehicles like others take pictures of their children.
~5:45 camp was set up.
Ready for dinner. Hot dogs for night one, home made chili for night two.

Out by Shores Lake.
Shores Lake would be fun to kayak when the water isn't so cold!
Hawkins Cemetery. It had some graves as early as the 1800s. One particular family had 5 infant children buried there along with the mother who passed three days after the birth/death of one child. I did not see the father buried with them.
We also checked out the Campbell Cemetery and the Brewer Cemetery. The Hawkins Flat (pictured above) was the coolets, and off the beaten path.

Taking care of a low hanging branch on a dead tree.
Night two we found a different spot to camp because I don't like to stay in the same spot twice. There was a little pond next to our site, and it got a little bit colder that night.
My buddy hand made this knife for me and this was my first trip with it, it was a fantastic knife!
Some card games in the tent for bed. (We did NOTsleep with the heater on!) We slept with thermals, two sleeping bags each (30* and 0* bags) and were very comfortable.

Pond by our second site.
Pond was frozen when we woke up!
If you look VERY closely you will see a little white tail, just to the left of the tree in the center of the picture. He actually started to come fairly close to us until my wife moved her foot and spooked it. We heard about three creatures, probably deer around our camp site after we jumped in the tent before bed.

My wife and I bought our first house, the day before Valentine's day. Got all of the vehicles in the garage. I need to find time to get the RTT and kayaks hung up on the ceiling.

Are you going to be able to fit the 4R in the garage with the RTT on top? Unfortunately, ours will not fit even with stock tires and suspension.

Thanks. I'm unsure right now, the RTT is currently at my dad's house. I'll get it to our house after we get all moved in and find a way to mount it to the ceiling.

We have several trips planned for this year... So, I am looking at joining the RTT ranks. I just have to figure out how I am going to deal with it when I want to park in the garage (at work and at home).

Hit 15k miles today, so I changed the oil and air filter (15,006mi). Dealership tomorrow for 15k mile service.
Also ordered a key fob from AJT. Cement grey fob programmed at dealer for $58.

edit to ask a question: could you talk a little bit more about the stock trd pro suspension/tire performance? I'm trying to prioritize my spend a bit and want to wait on tires/suspension. Looks like you made it through some relatively tough stuff without upgrading. are you still satisfied with the overlanding capacity (trails/water/camping/exploring) of the 4runner in its current shape?

Thanks, and absolutely! I'm no suspension expert, and won't pretend to be. I have no issues with the Bilstein setup on this 4R. The ride is relatively comfortable on road as well as dirt roads. I don't need, or really even want a lift. For my plans with this vehicle, I wouldn't change a thing on the suspension. Hence part of the reason I bought a Pro, so I could drive it and not pour thousands into like I did with my Jeep. I would however, like to change out the tires for something a little more aggressive. I wasn't very happy with the performance out of the Nittos when they got slightly muddy.
That being said, this is all just my opinion. Some people complain about the 4R being too slow (my wife included); while I don't find it's speed an issue.

To further [MENTION=142452]TexasTJ[/MENTION]'s point. I already swapped out the Nittos for BFG AT KO2s. I absolutely hated the performance of the Nittos, and was able to find someone looking for to go to the 'stock' pro setup to buy them.

How do the tires compare (on and off road)?

There isn't really a comparison. The Nittos are not good off road and the BFG's are great for an All terrain. On road they are similar. Heavier tire on the KO2s but they are the highest rated AT for a reason.

So I haven't hung the tent up yet, just have it sitting on a bench for the time being. Kayaks are out of the way now.
Next I need to figure out how to mount the RTT and both kayaks on the 4R. With longer bars I think it could work, but I'd have to remove the passenger kayak and both mounts for it to set up camp.
