Thanks! Since graduating from college within the last few years, my wife and I have been able to get out a lot more than we used to be. The 4R is a great vehicle for us to get out and be able to do that right now, although I do have concerns for when there are 4 of us and 2 dogs in the future.

Currently working on another Colorado trip for the first week of July, and a New Mexico trip in mid October. I'm anticipating the need for new tires before the Colorado trip.

Had a good weekend camping trip with a couple of friends from work. We stayed at a friend's property in east Texas (Henderson). They had a cabin on site, but we brought RTTs. One of the guys hadn't been camping in over 10 years, so we were excited to get him back out doors. We brought my GSD pup, Mia and his Lab pup, Cooper (my Gus' brother). We tried to go hog hunting, but they never showed their faces.

Picked up a hidden winch mount from Pelfreybilt, thanks to the guys at Bay Area Metal Fab.

Hit it with a couple cans of spray paint. Warn VR8000 will be coming off of the Jeep, and I will need to order a fairlead as the Jeep has one that is proprietary to the bumper.

Finished up the winch install. It was fairly straightforward despite Pelfreybilt's lacking instructions.

Pulled the Warn VR8000 w/ Amsteel Blue synthetic and added a Factor 55 Flatlink Expert and fairlead.

Looks great, clean and simple. Did you snag the winch from your TJ? Also, I would have taken this opportunity to clean off your radiator lol.

I wiped the radiator/condenser off after installing everything when I still had the top cover off. Yea the VR8000 was on the TJ. I've been using it for about 5 years, figured I would move it over to the 4R where it probably wont get as much use. I'll keep an eye out for some Warn sales later in the year and pick up an M8000 for the TJ.

Cascsdia Flipster V2 arrived and installed yesterday. This will keep me legal since Texas is a 2 plate state.

A couple of questions on your Gobi rack:

1. Did it have any noticeable effect on your mpg?

2. I’ve read in other places that it can make the truck feel very top heavy when the rack is empty. Has that been your experience?

I think it might've dropped 1-2mpg, I average ~17mpg. I can't say that I really notice it while driving any more, what I do notice is the weight difference and wind drag when carrying the RTT. I will say that the powder coating is too thin, and if I were to order again, I'd order bare and have it coated elsewhere.

Little more planning for our Canada trip, June 22-July 8th.

I'm not one to generally purchase or endorse Rough Country, but I decided to purchase the RC 20" single row black series LED light bar to get some more light output for the trip.

The light seems like a nice unit and came with a nice harness with relay and fuse, as well as 2 sets of mounting brackets (end to end, or adjustable brackets that mount to the fins) and neat little rubber guys that go on the fins to stop whistling.
Install took about 10 minutes, the upper grille on the 4R had pre-existing holes for the plastic Christmas tree clips, the exact location of the end to end light bar mounts.

I will try to get some night shots this weekend.

Boring update for my records. Hit 45k miles today, so it was oil change and tire rotation time. This will be the last time the stock Nittos are rotated and I will be getting new tires around Memorial Day weekend.
