Text-talk aint workin, and i got a ticket!

The infotainment system in my 2016 Trail stopped reading texts to me, or notifying me when they would come in. I didnt change phines ir anything. My kid mightve touched something, so i look to you all for guidance.

Had this issue on my '18 Pro. Ended up deleting the phone and paired it again. Worked perfect after that.

Ah how I miss pre 2007. When I pre ordered iPhone I had no idea it would change day to day communication and information and then it took years for it to go mainstream.

I've found the easiest way to avoid texting while driving is to punch yourself in the face on behalf of every other driver who is undoubtedly fantasizing about doing it for you. A highschool friend now has permanent disabilities and her parents both died from someone texting while driving. Seriously, get off your ****ing phone, you're not a child and you know better.

Sometimes I turn the bluetooth off on my phone and my Entune doesn't pop up telling me I have a text, you know what I do? Keep my eyes on the ****ing road and worry about my texts later

It seems to be in agreement with the other responses, but if you were screwing with your phone you deserved a ticket. Remember 20 years ago when no one was texting...we all seemed to get by somehow...

To the tech question, when I first got my 18, I was trying out the features and noticed that my system wouldn't read texts to me while I was driving, but never a problem if I was parked. Haven't fooled with it in over a year, so can't remember exactly what message I received or if it was normal.

The intent of the Entune system is to provide a hands free safe alternative.

He is literally asking how to fix it so he can go back to hands free eyes up travel.

Put down the pitchforks and let he who has NEVER ONCE checked their phone while driving cast the first stone. [emoji1749]*[emoji3603]

Disconnect and re- pair the phone. Double check the Entune settings as previously stated.

And maybe just ask the question next time without the details.

Yeah, well, see the whole purpose for me asking is so i can use the hands-free. And i never text while driving. I just use the talk text feature. And lastly, when im on the road and my wife is messaging me from her chemotherapy appointment, i STILL dont read them until i get to where im going.

Hey man it happens to the best of us. Usually followed up by a post about getting a ticket for using your phone because text-to-talk isn't working. Completely understandable.

I got a "warning" for having the phone in my hand while passing by a cop that had another guy pulled over.

Not applicable to the fix of Entune, but I figure I mention the “DnD” feature on the iPhone… I use the automatic do not disturb function when driving… it curbs the habit of reaching for the phone when it makes a noise. Good place to start if you find yourself reaching.

I’m assuming you have an iPhone since this usually happens with them. Go to blutooth setting, choose 4Runner, make sure everything is turned on (especially “show notifications”). Problem should be solved.
