I just want to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum and answers questions with actual facts, science, and engineering. I'm a previous Tacoma owner that moved to a 4Runner. I was interested in the unveiling of the 2016 Tacoma as we are a one vehicle family and we are missing the open box. I've been back lurking on the Tacoma forum and it's been driving me bananas. Some of the garbage being spewed out from people who have no idea. I was thinking, is it because the 4runner is typically more expensive than a Tacoma? So you end up with people on these forums that have moved on from the punk/ Internet posturing years? 1engineer can you go over there and answer questions? Lol.

Thanks again. Even if I do end up with a Tacoma I will probably never stop lurking here.

I still saw plenty of garbage being spewed here when people were waiting on the TRD Pro to be released haha.

My favorite: "It'll have a V8!"

or if your lucky you have a Tacoma and a 4Runner :)

I've been lurking over there a lot lately for solid info to show the warden and to decide on what to get. she loves the looks and I am pretty set on what features I will want to make her more happy than her last Tacoma.

01. has to be blue, closer to SWB the better
02. heated seats
03. JBL w/ entune
04. bigger backup camera (once your use to the 4runner 6" backup camera, that 2" in the mirror sucks)
05. tube steps (prefer black - I prefer running boards but I digress)
06. bed cover (not keen on the oem tri-fold and losing useable space, have to see compared to a access cover)
07. push start (she rather have a key, she doesn't know what she's missing)
08. heated mirrors
09. moonroof, but she/me rarely use it
10. memory seats (not happening from what I can see, no motorized seats)
11. parking sensors (at least they have rear sensors now)
12. locking tailgate (never needed one since we never keep anything in the back to steal)

at least we are a tad more civilized over here than what is currently going on over in the 3rd gen forums in TW.
 
i've been sifting through the new Taco info as well. the TRD edition looks especially good, but i think they'll all look great with a little lift and wheels/tires. the interior looks like a big step up.
 
Sat in the new Taco in Detroit. Interior seems decent. Bit more spacious. Big question is the new 3.5.
 
Why they felt the need to back it up after the reveal was odd, perhaps they wanted to flatten a few autohacks, which wouldn't be a bad thing. And, sorry, beige works on a FJ60, but not a 2016 Taco. WHERE was the WHITE? I thought for sure it was going to bottom out — I was the hack snapping pix as it backed up.
 
Having an open box is exactly the reason we chose not to buy a Taco or Tundra. We need the ability to carry more than 2 and have secure internal luggage storage. The 4Runner was the right choice for our needs. If I need to hauls something bigger a trailer will work.
 
Dude whats up with the squinty eyes and stupid smiles? who is designing this shit? This is fugly looking too. Bummer.
 
ha! Toyota does seem to be going all-in on the anthropomorphic grilles. i'm getting more used to the 14+ 4Runner, but it still has a weird "large-mouth bass" aesthetic that i don't feel relates or contributes to the vehicle in any constructive way.

the expression on the new Taco's face says "constipated" to me. i don't hate it, however. i like the beige [MENTION=48776]dekeman[/MENTION]! :D

I know taste is personal and all, I don't hate it either it is just, in the persons opinion, not very "tough" looking.

LOL I agree it does appear more constipated.
 
you guys need to stop making anthropomorphic references to the front end.

right now I have a neutral feeling on how I see the front end.
