Some time back I asked about oil pan leaks inn response to a shop that diagnosed my '99 T4R as an oil pan leak and repairable at $3000. After talking to two franchise repair shops, I decided to have it repaired. Franchise 1 said that they would not to the work themselves but would farm the job out.. Franchise 2 said that would do the work in house. After I devivered the vehicle to them I received a call saying that it was ready for pickup--this was about 2 hours after IO dropped it off. The shop manager and the mechanic had done one last detailed look at the problem and determined that the last person to do an oil change had not properly install the oil filter. Total charges for cleaning the under carriage, diagnostics, and new oil filter was about $180.00. Thanks to all who offered advice ranging from oil pans to rear main seals. Oh, who did I select for the job? Craftsman in McLean, VA.
