Thardy's 96 build

Well it's been a while since if posted an actual progress update. *It's not much but here it is.

We got the new spring packs built and mounted. *Major changes were military wrap on both ends, heavier secondary springs from Andrews Tundra, and a couple other anti-wrap additions.

Also got the Dana 44 trussed. *I wasn't confident enough in my own welding skills to not warp the axle, and with my dad "taking it easy" I took the axle and the home made truss to a pro and had it welded right. *

looks like there's a very good chance that this thing will be done by mid January. If my dad can find a carrier, he will get the gears set up and spiders welded. Then we can roll it under spot the perches then weld them, paint, bolt it under, then we will have to figure out the ebrake conversion. Hopefully it will be ready to roll on the 17th.
 
SO CLOSE YET SO FAR AWAY!!!! *2 hours away to be exact. *Got a lot accomplished this weekend. *Gears installed with lock-right, axle rolled under and mounted, axle painted a pretty red color (just kiddin its black), started modding an adapter for my ebrake. *All that is left is finish the e-brake mod, put the tires back on, figure out where I'm loosing my brake pressure at, load it on the trailer and haul it home. *I think my dad is goint to try to finish the e-brake today and take it to the tire shop to power bleed the brakes. *Then He may bring it to me on Wednesday!!!!!

Too bad I will be in Richfield Saturday or I would say let do some wheeling. *











 
Here is the adapter for the ebrake. *Yes the bird shits are mine. *I have never been able to figure out how to weld upside down.

 
Damn brakes are pissing me off. New master, new booster, bypassed and eliminated ABS system, took to a garage, power bled, another new master, another power bleed, still soft pedal.




On a good note, my dad is bringing it home today!!!!!




Another bad note over the last 8 months my third garage (4runners home) has cluttered up.

 
Got the runner back last Thursday. Got the driveline back Monday. Oh yah, once we got everything back together we took it for a ride and discovered that when the output shaft snapped the driveline must have smashed against something cause it was bent pretty good. Six states was able to straighten it and balance it so we got lucky.

I took the boys to wrestling practice in it last night and took it on the freeway. I think I figured out where my sway was coming from. It is all but gone now so I'm thinking my rear springs were too soft.

The other issue that I've found is my tires. They have about 10% tread which If they have to will get me through the summer (financially they are going to have to) but 65 mpg and I start to get a pretty good back massage!!
 
This thing is a beast man. Seriously kickass! Those pictures of it on 39s reminds me of my Oklahoma mudding days :D

Your pictures of Moab make me jealous (apart from the output shaft, bummer). I cant wait to get back out there. We made it through Trifecta with no issues last year, its a blast of a trail system!
 
So does that mean you can wheel again? I'm waiting on Lowrangeoffroad to ship me my chromolys but once I get them installed, let's make a trip out!
 
I'm good to wheel!! However I'm going to take it easy for a while. I want to enjoy having it back for a while before I break something again.

I would be down to meet you at little Moab or 5 mile.
 
I built a CB antenna/quick disco flag mount, from a piece of scrap I found at work.









Also installed my comp lights.

 
Good chance this will be going up for sale in the next couple days.

I work in the oil industry and with the prices of oil, work has been killer slow. With my hours cut and bills starting to pile up, I don't think I have any other options but to sell. It's a great rig and very capible. It does need a couple things to make it street legal and ready to pass safety. Any ideas on a good starting point for price? I've looked on KBB and NADA, but with the mods I've done I think it's worth more than that.

What are your thoughts??

Mods will actually kill the price unless you sell it to the right buyer and can hold out to get it. Might take time and if you need money you might need to settle for a low offer. I say hold out, you got a nice rig.

You're right, mods will hurt book value. I will definitely be looking for the right buyer
