The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

Guys, what fuel pump comes with the URD 7th Injector Kit? From what I understand, a Walbro? I refuse to run anything but Denso in my Toyotas - is there a Denso-equivalent from another application that is recommended?

It is walbro and from what I have heard about them they are pretty good. There is a good chance you won't even need to change out the fuel pump though when you tune it. I won't need one, at least not right away.

Why? Walbro has been around for just as long and work just fine.

I have the 7th injector as well as the 2.2 pulley and I'm still on the stock fuel pump.

There might have been only one time I've run out of fuel. But backed off the throttle and back on and it was fine. I'll probably put my 190 in soon.

so after installing my oil catch can between the pcv valve and the back elbow of the blower, the hose coming from the pcv valve going into the catch can is imploding on itself, like there is so much suction that its making the hose implode on itself, is this normal?

No, you need a better hose. Fuel hose is what I had to use because it is much more rigid, the cheapo vacuum tubing that came with mine collapsed within 10 min lol!

I'm also on my third attempt to seal my China-can... It leaks at the bottom because it's not a solid piece... I'm going to epoxy the dumb thing completely shut except for the drain plug and if that doesn't work I'm ditching the whole thing. Tired of oil getting splattered around my engine bay.

I've been thinking about getting one because it's so cheep. $15. But you should just connect it directly inline with the pcv and throttle body is. (On the supercharger I think?) Yeah use fuel hose. It will hold.

Your problem is you need a good quality catch can. There's some that work better than others. I found a Mishimoto can that better not leak!

I was researching about the oil catch can and did discover the cheap China cans are just an empty can with two hoses attached. I read on and learned how the "better" cans actually have a system inside the can that separates the oil and gunk out of the air...before it is sent back into your engine! I got all excited reading about this...then I seen the catch can. Wow...they look frickin sick!! I already knew I was buying one!! Heck I was already planning on buying another one for my other trucks....so excited...until I saw the price...WTH!!!

Needless to say I'm not buying any of these!! But I know some of you guys on here have deep pockets. And some of yall just have to have to best of the best...so I thought I'd share with yall! If anyone buys one...please post up a picture, I'd love to see one installed.

Anyone know of a good tuner in the Chicagoland region? I'm really struggling and just want someone who knows what their doing to look at it.

Alternately, anyone have the driver, or link to the driver for the USB/serial cable?

Yeah... I'm not made of money! Surprisingly, the simple inlet/outlet chamber works very well. This last time it actually had a decent amount of oil, despite the fact that it leaked. If I can seal it then it will work great.

I just discovered that my *new* nose cone is leaking. Well, I suspected it was leaking for a little while but was in denial. It's not leaking from the mating surface but from the nose of the charger itself, on the underside, just after the pulley. Anyone know of a way for me to save the nose cone or am I stuck forking out another $200+ on this? Do you think I could run thick gear oil instead of S/C oil or something like that?

Sounds like that's supposed to be somewhat normal--the last troubleshooting tip in the installation manual says:

Symptom: Supercharger appears to leak oil
Cause: Front seal not fully
Action: No immediate corrective action. Seal should be fully mated to pulley after from drive housing broken in 2000 miles. If leaking continues, contact TRD.

Course, you might be past 2000 miles. Or, as you say, maybe it's not the mating surface.

Unrelated, super helpful thread guys. I've just come into possession of an SC (funny how a discontinuation lights a fire under you) and all this information has been really helpful at tracking down the missing bits of hardware.

What do you mean? I plugged mine right in and it automatically downloaded the driver and then I installed the r4 tuning software and tweeked my stock map to a custom tune so my numbers match better.

SCRunner is rebuilding them. He sends you a good one, you install it and send him your own back to him so he can rebuild it for another person. Send him a message.

I'm in Madison/Platteville wi and would be willing to help ya get it tuned if you want to meet up. shoot me a PM and I we can talk about it from there. You have the 7th kit I assume.

Well guy's, I'm in. Just received my new 4th gen SC today. I have spent days lurking over this thread. I am much smarter now. I know how much I don't know.

Before you get all power crazy and go for a tune wait for my FIC tutorial so you have more choices for tuning

I got it all installed this last weekend :) and it is super nice to work with

Alright, I have a lead on a 1st gen supercharger. It is not local to me (3 hrs). Seller does not know how many miles are on it but said he took it off his 4runner which had 200K+. Seller sent me these pics. What am I missing or is everything there? Seller said these are not in the pictures but he has them... TRD vacuume/boost pillar gauge and throttle cable bracket

I think it will need a rebuild.

Now that's pretty interesting. I'll definitely watch out for that.

Starting out nice and simple with the stock pulley, 170 thermometer, IK22 plugs, and premium gas. Will increment upwards from there as needed.

The only things I need to sort out at this point are making dipstick and wire relocation brackets, and hoping that Camelback comes through with the IAC check valve. Local dealership said they're out of stock cross country... suck.
