The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

I found mine at a wrecking company, they posted the whole vehicle for part outs and a picture had an open hood. Told them I'd take the whole "air intake system" since they didn't know what they had. worked out pretty well. I even got to take it off the car to make sure I got all the hardware and accessories (sadly didn't have the URD kit though)

Put it on with just under 210k, new spark plugs, wires, t-stat, tensioner and belts, also did valve covers while I had it all apart. Been cruising strong for the last 20k with great compression all around. And loving the sounds of a blender under the hood.

I posted this in the "what did you do today" thread, but figured it wouldn't hurt to put in here. May prevent somebody else from chasing this problem. Make sure you double check your driver's side plug wires have slack after the install. My rearmost plug wire was just snug enough to pull itself free when I bolted up the wire loom to side of s/c.

Spend a couple days chasing my tail trying to solve a violent misfire under load/above ~3k rpm. Good news, simple fix!

Haven't seen this one listed before but it works for the check valve. Smaller tubing size so you'll need to adapt the hoses down. Not ideal but perfectly functional in a pinch. Dorman Help! #47149 "vacuum check valve"

So I have the opportunity to purchase a 2nd gen for 1600. No 7th or supporting fuel mods, just the charger and everything it comes with to bolt it in.

It has 245k miles, says it ran great when pulled, no video of it running before pulling.

Anything I should ask for specifically in regards to checking things out to make sure it's in working order?

If I didn't purchase it, I'd probably do a rebuild on it anyway.

I'd at least ask about the nose cone kit replacement. Those prices are ridiculous right now at like $500-700 or some damn thing. If it hasn't been done in awhile you could weasel down a couple hundred off asking price I bet.

Call magnison directly. They are cheep. $250 ish.

Do it. Rebuild or not that's a good price.

And yeah, see comment above on ordering them from Magnuson. Toyota discontinued the "TRD" replacement parts but they are still manufactured, just not with the logo on it! Get a TRD throttle body gasket too while you are at it. Opens up the intake.

Probably should get the proper O shaped throttle body gasket. You have the D shaped one in the pic.

I also don't see the dip stick relocating bracket, various vacuum fittings/lines spark plugs, thermostat, and the radiator cap.

Only thing I'll have to get is new vacuum lines. Going to do valve cover gaskets while I'm there. I should have the SC tomorrow whenever FedEx delivers it. Beyond excited.

X2 for the IK22's. I just swapped mine out and it's a noticeable difference.

Lexus Injectors

I found some injectors off a lexus, and i see they have a different connector. from reading, i think it's because they are DENSO type. so will i just need to buy that adapter from URD to make these work?
