Well now I have a bigger issue, now 4wd won’t disengage, I don’t know if it’s because it’s the push button 4wd and not a j-shift, I just don’t know.
Since you have a Limited your 2wd/4wd shift is done with an electric actuator on the transfer case. It could be the transfer case actuator, front ADD vacuum actuator, a vacuum problem, or a position switch not working correctly.

Well that’s probably what it is, same with my rear diff. Took a small hammer and tapped around a bam, shifted into neutral on the t-case shifter and got straight out of 4wd.

Just got my 4runner back from the shop. Took it in for P0172 diag. and was told it is most likely the catalytic converter. I know these ECMs have a specific code for the cat so how likely is it to be that with no P0420 code? Fed emissions '99 Limited.

Was also told he was having trouble finding the correct stabilizer bar bushing, any reason this wouldn't be what Rockauto has? TIA

Are extended lug nuts necessary with 1.25" wheel spacers? I am running 267/70/17s with 0 offset and 4.5 backspace.

If so, please provide some examples of what I would need. They would have to be aftermarket, of course, right?

No, the spacers come with new studs already installed in them. You attach the spacer to the truck using the existing studs and the nuts they provide, then attach the wheel to the spacer using the studs in the spacer and the lugnuts.

I hate to say it but but you might want to find a new shop or take these things on yourself

There's a ton of info within the Toyota community and owners often know better than mechanics today

The catalytic converter is after the air/fuel sensor which determines fuel trims. The catalytic converter has absolutely nothing to do with P0172. Find a mechanic because whomever you took it too definitely was not one.

I have been reading many post from T4R but not exactly enough to help yet so hope I can try here!

Original Post-I bought 2001 T4R w/multiple codes knock sensor replace both and harness along with TPS replaced MAF cleaned then replaced now I’m cleared down to 0500 also w/no odometer/tach/gas gage working! I replaced all 4 speed sensors and even bought “eBay original OEM (abs & trc & vsc module) behind drivers side fuse box. No longer in limp mode but still chugging and running pending 0500 no check engine light. Have tried to read any\every abs, vss, loss of power on hills. Response or solves all over the place a few changed the module most changed plugs harness (me too) I saw a post about a drive cycle looked as if post was 25 pages worth of drive cycle requirements so on page 3 I decided to ask y’all. If while doing drive cycle to complete the preinspect abs cycle and it throws 0500 do I reset start all over or is it the drive cycle throwing the cod not being complete? Or is the drive cycle something that will easily occur on DailyDriver. Both abs main engine harness plugs were replaced and the harness in engine compartment look and test ok together passenger side abs wires route by radiator over into harness and meets driver side after radiator Where do these abs wires go (abs & trc & vsc component module)?? Any shortcuts like just change TB or bypass abs IDK figured as many runners on here maybe worth a shot thanks for the forum New to toyota sorry for that and lack of experience built the other V6 for 20 yrs Nissan VG30 very similar. This electronic TB a little much anyway PLEASE HELP

Is the ABS light on?

Re drive cycle, it's about time. Read this:

How to Perform a Basic Drive Cycle

0278 open/short ABS Solenoid relay circuit ???
1223 malfunction ???
1242 IG1/IG2 power source
1254 pressure switch or switch
Looks like long weekend I posted so I can refer back these codes prompted when I went on drive cycle this morn so I will try again tomorrow morn after chasing these 4

Check the ects fuse.

Check the ects fuse.
Sorry new to Toyota etcs fuse is a term I do not know and couldn’t find much would you be able to tell me what and where this fuse is? Open at solenoid rela circuit is code I am trying to clear in the abs diagnosis truck slammed into something short on that side only got bottom of grill and front upper reinforcement bar smashed. Sorry for always getting off subject but the open keeps throwing 0500 so I can not complete drive cycle and abs prerequisite incomplete so rev limiter will not let this thing go. So help with etcs is greatly appreciated

I was afraid of this, looking at the FSM I saw nothing with the exhaust besides an exhaust leak. He did tell me with the IR gun that it registered a considerable temperature difference pre and post cat. Luckily I live in a no emissions county so I will chop it just to be safe and build a O2 fouler.

One thing that stumps me though, is the stupid P0172 goes away every morning on my 6 mile drive to work and comes back when I go home for the day. when its gone the truck runs amazing, when it is lit it runs like crap. I am going crazy over this thing :ohwell:
