First time on here not sure how this works but I need
help , my question is I’m trying to to lift my 3rd gen 4 runner , but confused with hight specs , I have an all pro bumber so I want to put the 882’s on the 5100 bilsteins I have ,want to get to 3 inch or close to
It, From what I understand 882’s give a 2.5 to 3 inch lift , an the bilstein on the the top notch give 2.5 , so I’m confused as were to set the clip on the bilstein strut? If anyone can please help I would really appreciate it , Thank You in advance.

Using parts sourced.from various sources aka not Toyota reboot kits

Looking for grease for the inner tulip/tripod joints. Seems like non-moly NLGI 1 is the spec unlike the outer birfield/CV joint (moly NLGI 2)

Getting a new radio antenna installed without having the old one??

Hey all,

I am a brand new member of the 3rd gen 4runner club, bought my 1999 4Runner SR5 a few weeks ago (see pic!).

The previous owner said he threw away the old antenna (along with the antenna power motor) because it was broken. There is just an empty hole there now, and no way to listen to the radio.

I would like to have a black "stubby" static antenna installed, but I am a bit stumped on exactly what i need to purchase since i dont have any of the old antenna parts.

Any help/direction GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Just replaced the factory head unit

Also, remove the factory amp when replacing the head unit. Do your research.

Congrats and welcome! 99-00 are the best years, IMO.

Look up taco whip antenna mod. You'll need a standard, non-motorized antenna base and then the antenna of your choice.

What front and rear bumpers are those?

I ask because every normal person I see is saying to use 90301-07001 - but every Toyota site tells me that's for a Sienna with the 1MZ, and 90301-07024 is for 4Runners with the 5VZ

The bilstein spring perch heights are for stock springs not lift springs. You'll want to start at the lowest spring perch and adjust from there if necessary.

Japan-parts.eu shows 90301-07024 to be the correct part number.

Hi there. I recently purchased a 2000 limited with no front bumper. I finally found a limited bumper from a 2001. I went ahead and bought it because the seller was offering it with the ditch lights for a good price. I see all the posts about people going from an old bumper to a new one, but can't find the other way around.

Can I get it to fit?

99-02 front bumpers will interchange without any issue.

do 3rd gens have the ability to raise/lower the driver seat? i was playing around with the electronic controls and couldn't figure out how to do it. also looked at the owners manual but there wasn't a mention of it. i saw that on non-power seats there was a knob you can twist to raise or lower it but it doesnt seem like thats an option on power seats?

The turn knob on the mechanical seats only raises the lower portion of the seat. The "butt pad" if you understand what I'm saying, lol. I can't speak on the electronic seats though.

I've personally never seen them for 3rd gen 4R's, but rather for Tacomas, there's a product that's made that you can attach to where the seat bolts to the truck that slightly raises the level of the seat itself, if that makes sense. I'd perhaps try researching something like that if that kind of thing interests you.

I (think) there's an issue with my rear defrost. When I turn it on, everything seems to work - the light on the button lights up, the side mirrors defog almost instantly... but the rear window defogger starts working but doesn't seem to do much. When the rear window is fogged up on the inside, I can drive for 20 minutes with defogger on and all I get is about 1/4-1/2" band of clear around each defroster line. So basically it is unable to defog the entire window. I don't recall that ever being the case before.

Any ideas? It doesn't appear to be the dreaded broken wiring in the tailgate phenomenon, since I am getting some defrost.. Or maybe there are only a few remaining strands in the wire, and that limits the current to the strips?

Suspension?

I am looking to replace my wore out factory suspension, front shocks/springs and rear shocks. I will not be lifting it, stock height but I would like to get ride of the drivers side lean. What would you guys recommend, no off-roading, just looking for a better ride and leveled! Thanks!!

Interesting issue here, never encountered this one before as far as I'm aware...

My VSC TRAC light is on, not the check engine light. My ScanGauge isn't showing any engine codes either. Is this an ABS related issue? If so, I suspect the ScanGauge probably wouldn't pick up on that, but I'm not having any braking issues (knock on wood) so there's that. We have had some incredible temps lately here in Virginia, last week we had single digit weather, then on Friday it was in the 70's and now it's down to the 40's. So I'm not really sure what's prompting this light to come on.

Any ideas?

Keep the stock front springs. You'll want new front and rear shocks and new rear springs. New OEM '99 springs will be your best bet, but aren't cheap. KYBs, Bilstien 4600s or OEM shocks will be good for stock-ish ride. If the ride is still bad after that, you probably have bushing issues.
