The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

I noticed on Cartrimhome they are selling some new items. Some blackout emblem covers, door sill trim, rear liftgate bumper top trim, and LED fog lights. Not sure what the specs are for the fog lights. But with these new pieces I'm keeping my fingers crossed the pro black valances will be soon.

Installed mine today from cartrim. It’s good but not great. There are pretty bad gaps and it doesn’t sit flush on the ends.

Knowing that I’m OCD, I should have just gone with OEM and not a replica.

My Chinese one is flush.

I strapped it down and hit it with a heat gun while installing.

The ends of mine don't sit flush so I think I'm going to take it off and add more 3M tape.

The Chinese one is not rounded enough tape will come off after a while if you force it on there.

I had a friend of mine push it on and I hit it with two little black screws on the underside on the ends....cant see them at all and it fits snug now :bravo:

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try again with a heat gun. Adding more tape didn’t work for me, it just kept popping back off on the ends.

Or maybe I’ll just screw it on too...

The first time you park next to a PRO and inspect their OEM installed setup you'll be more than happy with yours. If you go back a few pages I snapped pics of the gaps on a factory PRO and they are very present. Not sure why so many folks assume the OEM setup doesn't have gaps.

Came out pretty well. I replaced with the tape that came on there with some more heavy duty tape. I am pretty pleased with the fit right now.

My Chinese trd pro garnish was not fitting well and a friend of mine at the dealership told me he would try to get it warrantied. I lucked out and the 1 tech I have work on our 4runners was able to get me an oem replacement garnish at no cost to me.

You got them to swap a Chinese replica for the Pro OEM one? Isn’t that fraud? Did you happen to lay them side by side? They should be identical in nature - side “gaps” and all.

Side note - the effort I’ve been working with CarTrim should be ready in about three more weeks. Don’t worry, it’s not electrical (T8). I just ordered the led interior lights and the overlays. Hope of good quality

Let's hope that Toyota doesn't call that part back because then the tech will be looking for a new job and you will be paying retail for it all. Its warranty fraud and its a big no no with Toyota
