Nothing really. Got rid of the Rocky Mounts basket for a Yakima basket because it is bigger. I don't leave the basket up all the time though. Oh I got a Waterport to use as a road shower but when it arrived I wasn't impressed at the cost v benefit so I returned it.

Random '5am and I can't sleep' thread update.
Lots of stuff happening.
3 weeks ago we had a garage fire overnight. Breaker box shorted out. Luckily Meredith woke up before it spread to the house. Luckily x2 both trucks were parked outside. My two motorcycles were in the corner farthest away from the fire and are still rideable, albeit charred. $5800 damage to them. Everything else inside was destroyed... mostly by smoke and not the actual fire... about $10000 in camping gear, tools, outdoor equipment, motorcycle gear, etc. Fortunately renters insurance and motorcycle insurance stepped up so most of the financial loss will be covered.
Then, my buddy in Ohio decided to sell his '06 Taco that I've been wanting. I bought it and am flying back to Cleveland to drive it back here in April. Already scheming upgrades: US Offroad hidden winch, selling the Bestop, etc.
Initially I was going to keep both 4Rs and the Taco but the more we started to think about it, it makes no sense to have 3 vehicles and 2 payments. So we decided to sell Meredith's 4R.
So, incredibly, I had literally just parked it by the side of the road and hung a sign on it and was walking back in the house when a guy stopped to look at it... and bought it. He is waiting on financing but seems solid so I think by later today it's gonna be gone. Possibly fastest car sale ever?
Edit... and it is sold to that guy. Delivered / signed papers today.

I've been having some major Taco envy lately. Everytime I go to Almquist and have to have 2 feet cut off the end of a sheet of plywood to fit it in the 4Runner, or drive back home with 8ft boards sticking up through the center console up to the dash, I really wish I had a Taco.
I'm not normally a fan of red vehicles, but I think it looks pretty damn good there.
Nice aerial shots from the plane, too. One of the few things I like about flying out of Arcata is getting photos of coming into SFO from the North. Especially if you're on that 6AM flight and get everything at sunrise.

Hell, we're basically neighbors - I live just around the corner from you on Walnut - come borrow it!
I actually have flip flopped between 4Rs and Tacos several times... it took me this long to figure out to have one of each!!

Went up Ironsides Mtn to the fire lookout. Nice drive up (13 miles one way, gravel), sweet views. Take 299 into TrinCo and turn on Big Mtn Rd / FH4. Poorly marked.
Also tried to get up to the Weaver Bally lookout but it was still snowed shut.
Also heard about this road in TrinCo that cuts a corner off 3 and 36 called '13 Dips Rd'. It is marked closed on the north end but it's passable on a dirt bike or 4wd (if you don't care about scraping paint). It has 13 water crossings of the Salt Creek. I was on my street bike and I could only get through the first 3 crossings before shit got gnarly, but I'll be back to check it out in the 4R.

I'm a dirty Tacoma-driving imposter with nary a T4R to my name, but I just wanted to pop in and say how much I've appreciated this thread.
I grew up in Crescent City, and was one of those kids who spent all their time staring at a computer screen. Now that I'm older, staring at the screen for a living, and trapped in the concrete jungle I dearly long for more opportunities to get out on the trail. The more I look at this thread and the various trails in Del Norte/Humboldt/Trinity, the more I regret my misspent youth.

No, not nearby anymore. I haven't been up that way since I moved out in '08, but looking forward to a trip back to explore and soak in the scenery sometime soon.

An update on my lift: It's still in a box.
I think it's been 8 months since I got it. First, I was going to install it right after I got it. Woke up at 6AM, got the 4Runner on jackstands, got the wheels off and... couldn't get the inner-most nut of the strut top hats, and I was worried about it raining, so I stopped. Then I got sick. Then I was going to move to a house with a garage in a couple months so... I figured I would wait until then. Then I moved, and somehow the garage ended up being a woodshop for a while instead. Then other projects came up. The longer I have it, the lower my confidence in installing it gets.
Hopefully next month I'll get it installed. I finally gave in and asked my brother-in-law to help.
Also, this is the most offroading I've done in 2019. Driving onto my lawn to get potting soil and planters closer to the back deck.

Prepping for Alaska v.2 in August - September. I've been wanting an awning of some sort and this one fit the bill nicely (and cheaply):
