I've got the same issue on my 4Runner as well. I've got the Shrockworks bumper also and my noise is the body actually rubbing on my bumper when going over bumps due to normal body flex. The earlier versions of the install instructions had you drill holes when mounting the bumper to the brackets for a final alignment. Even with mine, as level as I could get it on install, is still less than a 1/2" from the panels under the headlights and fenderwells. Not sure what I'm going to do short of ordering a new set of mounting brackets and trying again.

That should be more of a clunk noise I would imagine than a squeaking noise... But I think I have a little less than 1/2" gap on my ShrockWorks currently and only when I am off-roading/flexing the truck and/or big bumps does it compress enough to whack the bumper (at least as far as I hear.)

Are you sure your body mounts are in good condition? If the mounts are starting to wear/tear they may let the body move too much on the frame, can you post pictures of your gap?

Aside from the smaller occasional squeaks that come from an aging vehicle I am happy to report that my Radflos have not been squeaking like before!

Not sure about OP, but on mine, there were a couple vertical sheet metal surfaces that would rub against the bumper and make an awful squeaking. I pulled the bumper off a little bit and used a body saw to trim those pieces.

Undo the nut holding the upper bj on and swivel the LR control arms up and done. They are horrible sources or screeches. Even with new bushings if you didn't grease the outside of the new bushings where the large washers rub against them they make a horrible noise. I had to get rid of mine because the bj and bushings were only lasting a year tops.

Squeaking over bumps

I've had this squeaking problem too.
Check the hinge bolts on the door on both sides.
The lower bolt on the top hinge is probably loose!

Mine sure was and after tightening it, the squeak went away.

Mind you I'm still going to be greasing all my joints for the suspension, I think I had both situations going on. Loose doors and dry bushings (still a slightly audible squeak, but nothing compared to what the doors were doing)

have the same issue with the Toytec lift. gonna see if some teflon spray will do the trick, if not maybe pull them off and inspect.

Interesting Squeak discovery yesterday... passenger side fender liner was slightly loose.. everytime I hit bumps it would flex and make a noticeable squeak inside the truck that sounded like everything described in this thread.. you would swear it was suspension related. It wasnt..

While vehicle was parked and off.. firmly but not harshly bang on fender and inner fender well.. I got it to make the squeak if you hit it in just the right spot.

Soo, I bought some DuPont Multi-Use Teflon Spray & sprayed where the sway bar connects, lower control arms & the bottom mount where the shock connects. I feel like this made the squeaking sounds WAY louder, definitely doesnt sound any better :dammit:

Any other suggestions? >> Is this a case where I should start taking stuff apart & greasing joints?? I just bought a 10'TE with the 2.5" Toytec/Bilstein ultimate kit (w/ KDSS). the lift was installed by previous owner 3 years ago.

This squeak had me going for a while.
Edge of headlights rubbing on fender.
Bit of sandpaper fixed it.

After reading this thread I decided to go after the horrible squeaking I've had for way too long. Coincidentally I saw a display of new (to me ar least) PB Blaster products. Picked up a can of the All Purpose lube, walked out, sprayed the UCA and upper shock mounts and a couple miles later hit some speed bumps. Quiet! I now have the can in my door ready to use as needed. Hoping it won't be often and I'm on day 6.

Only negative is I now hear my sway bar hit the spring when I hit the gas. I'll deal with that another time (or not.)

OP, sending full sympathies and moral support your way. I too get driven up a wall with interior noises and rattles and squeaks. Hope you hunt down this squeak and destroy it without mercy, even as it begs forgiveness. Shoot it in the head.

I have one on the rear cargo area. Every time I become peeved enough to chase it down, it goes away...

I had the same issue with my 4Runner, ended up being that I needed to "Lock" the swaybar down to the bushings better as the relocation brackets and factory "lateral locks" are crappy and were loose.

Haven't had issues with the bar rubbing the coilovers since.

I can hear the noise at all speeds and doesn't stop until i come to a complete stop. When i spray PB blaster with Teflon on the upper and lower control arms, Ball Joint and sway bar bushing i get about 100 miles of relief and then it comes back, any ideas?

Did you hit the top shock mount too? If not hot that too. I've been happy with mine and its stayed squeak free since day one which includes trail time, towing my trailer and around town driving. I really soaked mine with Blaster w/Teflon. Soak it down, be generous and spray away, you can'tuse too much!

After giving up on letting the "professionals" try to diagnose the issue, I (armed with spray lithium and my lovely assistant) and I resolved to find the issue myself. I sprayed everything suspension related that moved while my assistant shook the truck. Nothing worked. While under the truck, I heard the sound coming from higher. I popped the hood, and the sound stopped.

Phuc me!!! Lubed hood strut joints and shaft and 2 years of pain resolved.

So I figured id update by saying, the squeak I had when originally finding this thread was play between where the passenger fender attaches to the body.. on the inside there is a pre drilled hole up by the headlight. I put 1 ziptie on there laying under neath the truck and reaching up, very tight and the noise has been gone for over year. I was able to recreate the noise by pushing in this spot.

I too am dealing with a terrible noise that is reproduced by shaking the truck. It’s on both sides but much louder on the front passenger side. Here’s a video of it. Any guesses as to where it’s coming from? At this point I had completely loosened up the bolt on the lower shock mount as I was thinking it was the heim joint but it didn’t make a difference in the noise.

Go to your local autoparts store and buy yourself a $10 "automotive stethoscope" and you will be able to pinpoint where that squeak is coming from in less than 5 minutes, it will also come in handy for any other little annoying or possible harmful noises you or your friend have with their vehicles in the future, you will wonder why you never had one before even if you only use it just to find that SQUEAK!!!
