Looking at the treads of the stock AT20's you don't have to be a engineer to realize if you are on anything but dry pavement you are in trouble. So its new shoes for my 2012 Trail edition. I narrowed it down to three choices- Bridgestone Revos, Yokohama Geolander ATS, and Falken Wildpeaks. There are some bad reviews on the Wildpeaks about premature treadwear, so they were eliminated. I was all set to get the Revos, having had them previously on my FJ. They were fantastic tires, quiet, sure-footed in rain and snow, but I wanted to try something new. I them came across a brand new tire, the Toyo Open Country AT II. They are supposed to be a improvement on the the original Toyo AT, deeper treads, more siping and a different tread compound that has a 65000 mile tread warranty on the P-rated version. I called around and most of the tire dealers did not have them in stock yet. Finally one small supplier had them and gave me a good deal on 4 of them. Observations so far- they are quiet, and seem to have more adherence to the road then the stock Dunlops (Big Surprise).I know they are new because the manufacture date on the sidewall is two weeks ago.
