Speaking for anyone interested I have the LFD KDSS Front Skid and it is beastly. Fantastic build quality and the protected area is far greater than the RCI skid I had previously. Good stuff being made over there.

That looks great! I'm about to pull the trigger on the non-kdss wide skid. I'm excited to get it, it looks like a quality piece from the pics I've seen.

For what it's worth, I used the LFD Accessory plates (two of them), along with some long bolts/nuts/washers/etc to mount my X-Bull boards. The multitude of holes have a set that line up with the perfect width

My setup has 3/8-16x6" (these need to be replaced by 8" ones, but no where locally actually had them in stock) bolts, two per accessory plate, which are secured via washers on either side and a lockwasher/nut on the top side. The bolts then run through the existing mounting holes on the X-Bull boards. With the 6" bolts, they are long enough to run through 4 boards but not long enough to add wing nuts on top. Once I switch to the 8" bolts, I'll add two pairs of wing nuts, similar to LFD's hi-lift mount. For our last trip I just used two ratchet straps with the strap fed through the hand-holes on the boards and around the underside of the plates (and the bolts to hold them in place laterally/longitudinally).

This is the only photo I have of it that even slightly shows off how they are mounted... I can say it works wonders... Although, the day after using them to get out of some cement-like mud, we encountered rain... I was wondering why someone was pouring coffee down the windshield, alas it was just the mud running off the boards

That's just a sticker we include with the shipments, you can simply choose not to put it on

Yep, what he said... And it's not so much that I decided to not put it on, as I have been waiting for a warm day when the truck is actually clean-ish to put it on LOL

Glad I'm not the only simpleton. Thanks for the response though. I just placed my order for a roof rack a couple of minutes ago. A lot of my questions were answered in this thread which helped me make my decision. Your availability on the forum definitely helped too. Now the hard part, patience.

I assume this is steel. What is the weight? Seems like that needs to be on the website. Usually when weight is not listed it is heavy.

Honestly, haven't weighed one yet, but yes, nothing we do is light. Side effect of having an industrial machinery manufacturer as our parent company, we build things pretty heavy by default. I run Toytec BOSS with 700 pound springs up front, and they handle the weight nicely.

I was wondering how you would mount side lights/front light bar onto the LFD full roof rack? Do they all need to mount on the top? Seems like it could cause a lot of wind noise.

Also,
do the 7/8 and full aluminum racks fit and still have full function of the sunroof?

I'll be giving this project a shot this week, my current plan is to use a single 7" single row light bar on either side for side scene lighting. I plan on mounting it to the outside of the side rails of the rack. Pics to come probably Tuesday or Wednesday

Can't speak on the lighting but I have a 7/8ths rack and have full functionality of my sunroof. When in the "UP" position I have had the sunroof rattle against a crossbar while driving on our terrible interstate. Now I go all the way UP, then back it off a notch to keep that from happening.

Thanks! Is it just the height of the glass that is too close? Or could the cross bars be positioned to avoid touching?

It looks like it's the height of the glass. It doesn't touch at all when parked but on bumpy roads/highways it will rattle against it.

We are running the Green Lane Offroad Aluminum ladder. We have been very happy with it so far.

I got the side scene lights installed and wired up last night...

The lights are SuperBrightLED's 7" Slim light bars, flood optic. They are moved off the side of the rack via a 1" plastic spacer found at Lowes, and held to the rack by 1/4-20x1.5" bolts with a washer/lock washer/nut combo on the backside.

All wiring exposed to the outside world is wrapped in heatshrink, the Deutsch connectors are secured to the rack by 3M VHB and then the wiring is secured via zipties. Because these only draw about 1.7A combined, wiring consists of 18/2 from the switch to the connector pigtail on the drivers side, where it joins the wiring over the passenger side light. Wiring then follows the side rail to the back, through the gap under the spoiler and then down the drivers side of the weatherstripping for the hatch. Instead of poking a hole through the factory grommet I ran the wires down and utilized one of the taillight openings to pass the (flat) 18/2 wiring pair through. The foam that backs the taillights leaves plenty of room for this, and if I don't like the lights (or more realistically, add more and upgrade to 16/6 or 16/8 wiring), I haven't created an unnecessary hole in a water-prone location (the upper grommet).

Excuse the mess in the last photo, was utilizing my parents garage for this as the 4Runner doesn't come close to fitting in our garage
