Hello, and thanks for stumbling into my thread! This thread is going to be about my 2013 T4R TE: upgrades, adventures, and other significant events.

BACKGROUND: I originally fell in love with the Toyota brand after I got my 2008 Toyota FJ. I built the FJ into a fully capable trail rig. Unfortunately I didn't get much wheeling time with her before I got an offer on her I couldn't refuse. I sold her to a guy who ended up trading her in a couple months later for a fuel economy vehicle.

My next ride was my dream Subaru STi, but the fun with that car was short lived. The car is just not practical for my lifestyle. I ended up getting into a 2009 T4R next, but it just seemed so girly... especially when compared to my FJ. And everyday I would see it parked next to my wife's 2011 and just wait until I could afford one. Flash back to November 3, 2015, and I ended up snagging Rumpelstiltskin from the Toyota "stealership."

PLANS: Keep it for at least 16 years (until my son can drive it)! I am going to do a mild build: 285 70 17, 3" coil over, UCA, sliders, bumpers, and RTT, and go on many adventures.

Subscribed for pics of your Alaska trips. When I was 18 I would have thought Alaska is a terrible place to be stationed but now that I'm older and more into the outdoors I'm thinking it could be pretty great.

I have to ask since we have a resident of Alaska here....I've always wanted to visit but heard the bugs (mosquitoes etc can be really bad)....is this always the case or certain seasons / areas etc?

The mosquitoes here are our state bird. The cooler the weather, the less mosquitoes. However, I'd say come towards the end of June. It's definitely the most fun and the best weather. They make long sleeve shirts that are lightweight and breath well; same with pants. So spray some bug dope on your neck and wear a hat, and you're good to go!

I would move to Alaska on a permanent basis if I didn't already live in the other outdoor mecca state. Spent four summers driving buses for the cruise lines in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Alaska is the best!

I ended up ordering the ICON stage 2 kit from TOYTEC lifts a few weeks ago. They had everything but the front coilovers. Hopefully they'll ship soon!

Oh, and I'm not sure what's up with Metal Tech. I ordered my last ICON kit from them. But this time they were super NOT helpful and never returned my calls or emails.
