wow waited that long. It would be nice to see your review of it. I can't decide between getting a Danfoss style or something along the Yeti style.

That's annoying. When I went to order one back in February it said that the delivery date was going to be near the end of July. When I e-mailed asking wtf they sent me an automated message that it was first come first serve, months of back orders, etc.

I hope it works out for you- they do seem like a very good option.

I will give updates definitely. So far so good. Seams to keep ice a long time, its been rather warm down here and it's been sitting in the back of my Lexus as I've been working close to home, so I have been driving it.

I'll be taking it to Yakistan with me next week for 3 weeks of shooting and fielding our new howitzers, so that should be a good torture test lol.

I'm still 50/50 on weather or not to drain it everyday or to keep the water in it. Any thoughts? I kinda am on the drain side as it keeps any water contamination of food or beverages at bay. I have had water get into sealed drinks before when I sat them in a stream/creek to keep cool on a camping trip in the past...

Draining the water will decrease the cooler's efficiency by allowing more air into the cooler. Unless you're draining the water and replacing it with ice I'd keep it in there.

I've had the best luck with block ice. the shaved ice stuff from stores usually melts really fast since it isn't very solid. I went to MOAB last week and we filled the yeti with snow after the Eisenhower to pre-chill. Then when we filled it we dumped the snow/water mix and put 2 10lb blocks of ice and about 50 beverages in it at the beverage store on the CO border. Honestly, we opened it frequently every night, and 10 days late I'd say I had 6lb's of ice still. And every beverage we pulled out was frothy and delicious!

Good point about water taking up room and not letting the air melt the ice. No the rtic does not have a basket, at least in the 45 size. Maybe the bigger ones do.

Well I tried my hand at TIG welding today, let's just say I didn't take any pictures.... I'll stick to MIG for now. It's day 6 on these tanks and shelves and I'm glad tomorrow is my last day for 3 weeks. I'm so burned [out]. I literally smell like a burnt body, its gross

Really nice rig man! You mentioned not wanting to spend money on a supercharger for your 3.4, but have you checked out clownmeat's turbo build? 7psi at 1500 rpms, about 50hp and only 500-800 to build. He's had it running without any problems for a few years now. all the parts are so simple and cheap to replace that it wouldn't matter if you did have to replace something. Worth a read if you haven't, very nice build. Just my .02!

It's a pretty simple setup. based on the fabrication skills showcased in this thread, I'm sure he could more than handle it.

I could but at 300k+ mi I don't want to force induce it. If anything I'll swap a 1uz or 2uz... besides, the biggest downside to that turbo set up is the intake. It's low and at the back of the vehicle, dirty air and it would really hamper water crossing abilities. Yes clownsteak has a great set up and did it smart by going with a small turbo for minimal to no turbo lag, but it would suck water faster than a elephant

He has a snorkel and Caterpillar air filter on it now. I do see your point though. Whatever you decide, I'm sure will turn out awesome.

So I'm in serious need of rear shocks. These bilstiens are just junk. Looking for something that will take this weight but not limit my travel... and I don't want to spend $400+ per shock, note do I want something that will need to be rebuilt in 2years... I called ToyTec today and was told my options were either a -OME shock that would severely limit my travel but ride very nice and handle the weight with ease, or another set of the 5125s that I would destroy in like 6months but not hurt my flex/travel... otherwise I was SOL... wtf ToyTec who the hell do you have working for you guys?! I know this can't be real... I have to have more options than those two. The guy whom I spoke with kept trying to tell me I couldn't have 4" of lift in the rear and that at most people only have 3".... 2.5 is common. Get it together @toyteclifts ... I was ready to spend some coin today but I might be forced elsewhere if this is the caliber of sales reps you have... he didn't even make any attempt to take my order or seam interested in a sale...

What about stock replacement OME shocks for the fj80? Part #60020 they might be an option. Although I don't know how much weight you have in the back. You might run into the same problem like the tokicos though

Maybe you missed the part where the OME shock would severely limit my articulation and flex... I don't mid the shock being my limiting factor, but cutting wheel travel is not what I'm looking for here

Yeah I saw it but I thought the stock replacement OME shock for a landcruiser was a longer shock(like the tokico and 5125) and might be an option. I see different part numbers when I look up OME ones for a 4Runner and a landcruiser.

And the guy on the phone didn't seem to interested in either trying to learn or looking anything up about them... I was calling ToyTec because they typically know their stuff and I trust them referring parts that should work as they are around suspension systems all day long putting them together and trying this or that... anyone can do some research but when you have such a valuable resource why not use it...? Idk I guess it's back to the good old dewey decimal research system...
