RCI Skids Plates

Installed my RCI Off-Road skids yesterday. Aluminum Pro Integration plate, Steel Transmission & Transfer case plates with steel cross member. Overall pretty straight forward. Only hangup was getting the transfer skid cross member bolt in through the brake line bracket. Getting the bolt lined up straight while going through the crooked bracket was was a patience tester on my back under the not jacked up truck in the driveway. I thought I had cross threaded it because it refused to go in any further about halfway in but eventually managed to get it.

Exhaust cross pipe over transfer case skid. I thought it was touching. I'll have to get a piece if paper and see if I can slip it between. Wonder how the powder coating will stand up to the heat? So far no rattling.

Pelfreybilt Winch Mount

The weather is not cooperating so got my mount powder coated. 100 bucks. Looks good. Forecast calls for warm and dry his weekend so fingers crossed.

If you need powder coating in upstate NY call Joe at HQ Powder Coating. Nice guy. Dropped it off Monday morning, he said it'd be done by Friday. Called Tuesday morning said it was ready. https://www.hqpowdercoating.com

Ultimate camping mod- rear window up / down and hatch pop with ignition off!

One time when I was camping a thunderstorm rolled in quickly so I jumped into the back of the truck to ride it out but could only lower the hatch down close but not closed because I did not want to have to climb over the seats to get out. I have wanted a solution like this ever since. Now if sleeping in the back or just riding out a storm I can put the window up or down, lock or unlock the doors and release the hatch to open it from inside.

I had a few minor issues along the way but overall installation was pretty straightforward especially since I chose the mount mine on the sill of the hatch itself. If you choose to mount yours in the same location you should know that there maybe an issue with the metal inside under the sill area interfering with the switch connections. It would be interesting to know if [MENTION=132734]MeefZah[/MENTION] had the same issue.

P.S. Tomorrow I will run a bead of silicone around the up down switch.

I did not have that issue, I evaluated for that prior to drilling the holes and set them properly to clear the metal lip.

I thought about it initially before starting but got side tracked by some other issues and it slipped my mind. Setting it back further would've saved some hassles.

Once more into the breach. Weather cleared and warmed enough to finally install the winch. Off with the front end, off with the bumper and on with the Pelfreybilt HWM.

Test fit winch. Does not fit. Inside lower grill support hitting bracket just about where it says SR9. So off with the bracket and solenoid pack. Clearance obtained.

Now to figure out where and how to mount solenoid pack in engine bay. Move ARB Breather. This spot will do. There's even a couple of handy 5/16" threaded holes available.

Threaded holes are only 1/4" deep but can only get 1/2" bolts so need spacers. Have a bunch of old plumbing washers that should do the trick. Just need to ream them out a bit. A little painters tape to mark step bit to correct size. Bolt on some old perforated steel strips I've had laying around. Two washers make for a perfect fit.

Got some 5/16" x 1" carriage bolts to mount solenoid pack. Used Gorrilla tape to hold them in place.

Needed to buy two additional 5' and one 20" lengths of 4 gauge cable to run the connections to the battery and solenoid. Bought Duralast 4 AWG copper core from AutoZone. (First pic original cables.)

Ran cables in twos which fit perfectly in wire loom. Ran through openings for coolant pipes.
