Continue to be impressed with the 4R. Got good mileage on this recent trip to the mountains in West VA. What a beautiful place! I have never seen anything quite like it. Both my wife and I loved it! Anyway, was doing about 24.1 mpg on the way back. By the end of the trip the MPG was at a 23.1- still not bad at all.
PS- Did see a couple of nice Trail editions in WVA.

How in the h@ll are you getting that kind of mileage. I'm lucky to get 17mpgs with 87 octane (91 octane was giving me worse gas mileage).

TOYSTRY- I try to keep the green light on at all times and also try to hit the 'sweet spot' in terms of the speed. For this truck it seems to be right around 62-65 mph.

Drive like there's an egg under the gas pedal and keep the cruising RPMs under 2k. Along with the obvious....0w-20 oil, clean air filter and correct tire pressure.

I would rather get 17 - 20 and not drive like a fricken grandma..... personally if 1 - 5 mpg is a concern then perhaps I should not have spent $40k on a vehicle... I would rather enjoy my trips than spend the trip worrying about a stupid green light

I would not say doing 65 mph is driving like a grandma....to each his own..its all about personal preferences. Also, I do enjoy my 40k vehicle driving at those speeds.

This is the same for me. I actually figured 53 MPH to be the best MPG for me. I only did it once for 200 miles from a relatives house. My meter read 29.8 MPG when I got home. I will also say - I had the cruise on the ENTIRE time. I would SLOWLY "+" the speed up to around 59 downhill and if going uphill, I'd tap "-" every few seconds til I got to 53 or until I peaked the top of the hill.

With that being said, I average around 15-17 MPG here in Atlanta during my commute. 6 miles HWY and about 5 miles CITY.

Just returned from a 400 mile trip - all interstate. Cruise set at 71-72 and got 22 mpg. Once got 24-25 on a 50 mile trip, experimenting, cruise set at 55.

I'd say it gets good mileage for what it is.

Good to see this MPG in the 5th gen...
Best i've been able to manage in my 3rd gen is 22mpg... (EPA is 17)...(30% over EPA) so for a 5th gen, 25mpg (EPA is 22) (14% over EPA) i could possibly get it even better than that... good to hear.

BTW, 70mph average speed for that MPG....

Bad news is my commute is about 85 miles a day if I only go to the office and home. Good news is it is 95% highway so cruise is the mode.
I know it's easy on the rig because I go 70,000 + miles on tires and brakes.
MPG should be pretty good. The Fjcruiser gets about 21-22 but that is literally a brick with wheels and a windshield that is practically verticle.
4runner is a little more aerodynamic (a little).

Is this something that the dealer can do via the OBD II (computer), or did you use another method?

Cycle through the dial that selects your odo.. one of the options is to turn the eco light on and off.
