The ULTIMATE stubby antenna!

I've been running the Pilot for a while, and while I was pleased with it I found that we are always using the XM or the iPod. Here's the result:



Just a trim panel pin, but it's clean and does the job.

The local stations are fine, but nothing from out of town.

looks like the old mechanical retractible antennas all the way down. Not bad if you never plan to use broadcast radio.

Would a power antenna be an option in a 5th Gen? Google and the forum search didn't provide much info.

EDIT** By power antenna, I mean the type that extends and retracts when the radio is turned on or off. Just like the 3rd Gen's radio antenna worked. I would love to make the 5th Gen's Antenna disappear when the radio is not running an FM channel. The 3rd Gen antenna would retract when a CD or Aux was in use. AM/FM use would cause the antenna to extend.

It's going to be hard to tell you how well it will work in your particular area since we all get difference signal strengths in different areas

I'd be curious to see parts diagrams for the 2014 non-whip antennas. Is the antenna now in the rear quarter glass? Then you could just plug the front fender (or if you have the money, buy the 2014 replacement fender and have the paint matched).

I wonder what that would cost. The fender is a decent size so probably not cheap I assume. Would definitely do it on the off chance it was only a couple hundred bucks.
