Any idea how difficult it is to replace the windows myself?
Any suggestion where to get the parts from?

Any special videos or gotchas that you can tell me about?
I've never replaced a window but I don't have the money to pay someone.

Front door should be straight unbolt and replace type job., once you've removed the inside trim panel. I've never done a rear quarter window...looks like it involves glue. The FSM should be good to guide you.

I'm curious why someone would smash both windows considering doing the passenger side gets them into the vehicle. That's just downright mean to break both.

I haven't replaced a front window on a 4Runner, but did just replace the mechanism that raises and lowers the window on my passenger car. The window just sits in a track and pretty much floats. I assume it's the same for most vehicles so that one should be easy enough to do once you have a new pane. Just gotta take the interior of the door off to get access to the inside of the compartment.

No clue on the rear though. Sorry.

Door windows are easy, just make sure you use strong silicone or else the regulator arm will rip itself off eventually and you'll have to do it twice. You'll also need to recalibrate the regulator motor, I forget what the procedure is exactly but it's available with a little digging and pretty straight forward
But you'll probably need an auto glass tech to do the rear window, as well as provide door glass too - and at that point there's not much reason to NOT have them install both

They don't open the doors and a broken window usually doesn't set off alarms. They just reach or dive in and scoop. I've seen 2 side door windows and the rear hatch bipped many times.

Maybe I'm not understanding what ur saying but u shouldn't be needing to use silicone.... they door windows all have rubber "trim/gaskets" to hold them in place, I have stacks of door glass and nothing had silicone to hold them in... the rear windows yes. The rear glass is easy to remove if u use a oscillating tool, takes mins.

Rear Quarter Window

It is somewhat of a pain. The window is in a light frame that has clips that anchor it to the vehicle. I just changed mine, i removed the entire seal, had to remove the interior panel to access the inside. Then I got a window on ebay for 100 bucks. I could not find the strip sealer that was originally used, so I used an aircraft windshield sealant. 2 or the 4 clips were broken on my used one, so pre order those, I went without them. But it is fine now, for about 125.00


The door glass, pretty straight forward.

oh do they? Mine were held in just with those plastic tabs with some old adhesive of sorts. But then again, the window I worked on has been replaced before

It's a 19997 so I only have liability but my problem now is FINDING the windows for a decent price as I'm between jobs (as they say). In other words, I'm trying to find the parts where my dealer said they're discontinued but even if they weren't - their prices are astronomical.

What options do I have if the Toyota dealer doesn't make them anymore?

Is there an inexpensive dealer who can find it somewhere and then ship it at a competitive price?

A '95 4runner is a second generation. You have a 3rd. You'll want 'one from 96-02.

I have all the OEM glass, where u located? guessing no where close, even have a cab going to the crusher with the quarter windows still in said, if u come pull them u can have them.... those r some crazy prices

Agreed. The doors are simple enough to replace but I'd be too concerned about getting the rear quarters sealed and looking nice. I had my rear quarter shot out shortly after moving and watched the guys replace it, looked like a total pain in the ass even with the right tools.

OP mentioned options if the glass isnt made anymore. Not a worry, the glass is still readily available from toyota. They tried to replace mine with a no-name and I demanded the 20% tint toyota glass. They had it next day brand new from toyota. Dont know the cost as it was through insurance, but it is available.
