here is one I stumbled on today in my '11 LE (with keyless entry, obviously).
I usually hit the lock button on the remote as I'm walking away to lock my truck. But today after I got out and shut the door, I waked around to get something out of the front passenger side and noticed what looked to be a scratch on the chrome face of the door handle. So, I did what every person on the forum would do... I wiped my finger across the chrome, luckily it was nothing, but the strangest thing happen while I was doing this.... THE DOORS LOCKED. At that point I'm thinking, WTF just happened, I hope my my key's aren't in the car. And whalaa, my keys were in my pocket.
So there I am in a parking, fascinated by the fact that I can lock my doors without having to reach for the fob. I just became that much more lazier!
It works on both the front drivers side and the passenger side door handles.
So here's what I learned...
To Un-lock - Touch the inside of the door handle.
To Lock - Wait a couple of seconds, touch the outside face of the door handle. And be sure NOT to touch the inside of the door handle. Locking the doors won't work if the handle senses your hand the inside of the handle.

Or hit the "Reset" button. That clears the avg. MPG which is what the "miles to empty" is based on.

Basically the entire POI feature of the NAV system. Did you know if you click on a POI it gives you a phone # for the location? Haha that's nanners, I wonder if the 2014 also lists store hours?
Setup all gas stations, nightlife, parks/forests, hospitals, all dining, and Starbucks as my 6 points of interests- ranked in that particular order

Navigation Night Mode
I just stumbled upon this tonight. My dash lighting adjustment dial has always been set to the max position. It "clicks" in to this position. As I was driving and using the navigation tonight, I decided to try dialing back the brightness of the dash lighting. When I backed the dial out of the max position, the navigation system immediately went to a night-time mode wherein the map background was black. Prior to this, in the max brightness position, the navigation map remained in a day-time mode with a white background. Interesting...

That sucks. Not an issue on the 2010 LE. I have the stockers and the All weather "WeatherTech" mats.
Mine was set to max too... First time I drove at night I had to stop and do that since the screen was WAY to bright.

I noticed something of interest to me.
I was using the 12v cigarette lighter outlet to charge my 1MM candlelight spotlight while driving around town. I stopped to go into the store and when I returned to my truck I pushed my keyfob to unlock the doors and nothing happened. No clicks, no beeps, I had to unlock the doors with my key (old school) I assumed the keyfob battery was dead and replaced it. It still did not work. So then I went into troubleshooting mode. Asked myself, what changed since the keyfob last worked? I noticed the spotlight was still plugged into the outlet. So, I unplugged the spotlight and now my keyfob worked again.
Now, I decided to test my new found discovery. I repeated my test over and over for a couple of minutes.
Then I decided to expand my test. Was it the charger plugged into the outlet alone? Or the load of the charging spotlight causing the issue? Or was it the battery from the spotlight sending current back into the 4Runner electrical system?
I plugged the cord alone into the outlet and all work fine. But once the was cord was connected to the spotlight the keyfob problem started again.
So, now I removed the battery from the spotlight and conducted my experiment again. And the keyfob works fine again.
So in conclusion, when I charge a 12v battery through the outlet it disables the keyfob.

The charging system on that flashlight is probably not too advance and allowing current to flow back into the cigarette lighter circuit after you turn off the vehicle; thus causing some kind of interference with the key fob, kind of like how the smart keys won't work when the vehicle is on...
Maybe it tricks the smart key system into thinking the 4runner is still running, or something to that extent?

I went to the dealer and they can program a few things:
1. The key into the tailgate can raise or lower the window by turning the key in it (I know that was already mentioned, but the dealer needs to activate it)
2. Dealer can activate it so when holding the "unlock" button, it will lower all side windows
3. Dealer can turn off seat belt chimes (took me 3 attempts while the first 2 times at the same dealer they told me it is "illegal")
4. My dealer never told me I had remote start but to test it, quickly push lock 3 times then hold it down the 4th time till the lights blink and it will start after that. To go along with this, unlocking or locking the car will turn off the engine

So, I've known about the deicer for a while but I'm curious as to how well it works once you replace the wipers w/ something aftermarket like Rain-X/Bosch wipers. Or should I just run OEM replacements…?:noidea:

Any wiper will work. It is just a defroster element in the glass below the wiper rest position.
