Things you did not know about your 4runner

noticed this last night. on my 2013 trail when you have the eco mode mpg indicate bs displaying. it stops calculating when you hit approx 86 mph

Anyone notice the clear plastic holders on the driver side sun visor? One of them has the instructions for how to shift to 4wd but the other one is empty. Perhaps it is a location for instructions for crawl control that I do not have?

I'm not sure if this is its intended use, but I use that for displaying my parking permit. I slide it in there and swing the visor down when I park. No more dealing with the hangy thing on the rear view mirror.

Had the same issue with a different vehicle. I finally just told them that I had totaled the car and bought something different without XM capability (and therefore no need for more great deals or trial memberships) and that got me off the list.

I'm not sure if this one is widely known, but I figured it out last night and thought I should share. Under the hood, there's a plastic piece that covers the radiator, fan, etc... at the front of the vehicle. It's held on by a bunch of little circular plastic pins. The pins have a smaller circle inside the larger one which is connected to the piece that's providing the friction. I used to think that you had to use a small screw driver to pry those things up. Instead, if you push in on the smaller circle it will release the tension and allow you to pull the pins out. Then you just have to reset them by pushing up on the pin and can snap it back into place.

I discovered that too, but I'm not sure it is the intended way. I took a complete inner and out pin out to check it out. Seems when you push the center pin inwards, you are actually bending and flaring the outer compression pins too much. I'm afraid it would eventually fatigue and make the pins snap and break.

Open the sunroof more

Already knew since I bought my 2016. For all who maybe knew as well or doesn't.

Open sunroof more meaning sliding an extra 2" or 3" more by holding the slide button back for 2sec it'll open

Good to know, I definitely preferred it to prying each and every one. If they are cheap to replace, then I'll keep pushing them in!

Pushing them in is actually the correct way

The wiper interval is opposite my other 2 Toyos. Instead of interval going longer when you twist it towards the wide end of the indicator wedge, the interval gets shorter.

Not the 5th gen, but same design.

I tend NOT to store my pistols with the barrel facing my children in the backseat.... besides if you are gonna travel with a weapon it should be on you no tin the center console!:wtf:

They're in holsters with triggers covered. Riding long distance with gun at 4 o'clock can get annoying. If you can't handle a gun safely you shouldn't have one in the first place.

If you cant man up at 4'oclock you shouldn't be carrying a gun... a nice jolt to the weapon from a car accident could be just enough to launch a round so at a minimum it should be pointed to the ground if stored in the console.... know me before questioning my experience with with guns... its dipshits with your mindset that fall victim to accidental (READ NEGLIGENT) discharges

Agreed. If I take mine off it goes in the console with the muzzle down. However, I'm "one of those guys" who gets bent out of shape about trigger and muzzle discipline.

That aside, a strong collision could cause the pistol to come out of the kydex holster since the holster is mounted which would mean it's bouncing around the console without the trigger covered. I'd rather have the pistol bouncing around in the console with the holster on.
