There is almost no down side unless it causes both wheels to spin and kick the rear sideways. But a front one needs to be engaged more selectively so you can still turn.Well sure, the idea is to know when you have a much higher probability to lose traction and avoid it, that can be by adjusting how you are driving or using some other tool in the chest.
