Think TR43Gs have the 'Best' front passenger vent configuration?

I mean 'Best' is up to the beholder yet the bottom line is effectiveness. Like many of you I've driven many a type of vehicles w/an A/C but these are tops.

Damn do they cool down fast and blow ice cubes not long after! And in my case, the whole system is original, never opened even, yet.

Yet what I like 'best' that I don't see on any other vehicle (though I don't know about other T4R generations) is having a vent under the steering column - simply Genius - give that person/team a huge raise.

Mine is so cold, all I need is the left vent (and sometimes angled way off to the back) and the steering column vent. Front passenger and rears get all the rest, which we all know is plenty - even in hot arse Austin, how hot? Try 89 (yes 89) 100+ degree days with 15 of them in Sept alone, haha....

What y'all say, truth or BS to the A/C statements?

I agree that the 4r cools down faster than most. Highly appreciated in the summer months with the ac's efficiency to cool down the hot interior after parking in the scorching sun for hours.
My only quam is keeping those center vents from swinging down every time I hit a bump because they are loose fitting. Ac seats in the 4r would've been nice but, there was no such thing about it in 2000.

Eh, the upper vents can't be pointed down far enough, so the ball cooler is required for comfort.

My gen2 Camry has a better setup - the upper vents point down to chest/stomach level, and the center two vents have a switch to direct air to a secondary opening that directs air perfectly to the back seat passengers (so, leave center vents pointed at front passengers for 2-person use, flip switch when you have rear passengers)... And it still has the ball cooler! I still have R12 in it and it cools as good as the 4Runner (yay for fog out the vents on humid days!).

I had a Tahoe with a ball cooler.
But I agree, the 4R cools really well. Wife’s Volvo XC70 works really well too.

Honestly the 3rd gen has the best AC I've ever used in an automobile. A huge night and day difference coming from a second gen Tacoma.

As soon as you hit the AC button you can instantly feel the air start to cool. It is nuts.

My kids always liked the back seat heater/controls. Years ago we were traveling to mom's house on Christmas eve during what later became termed our Snowpocolypse. Put her in AWD, cranked up the air and felt like we could have gone anywhere in the T4R.

I own an ‘01 Tacoma TRD that I purchased new. My newly acquired ‘02 T4R definitely has a much better AC compared to my Tacoma, which I find strange. The Tacoma is an extra cab, which has a much smaller interior area, and I assume the AC systems in the two vehicles are the same, but maybe I’m wrong? My Tacoma’s AC has always been good, but never what I would call exceptional. My T4R’s AC is exceptional!

Yeah I have a 2000 tacoma and a 2000 4runner and even after getting the tacoma ac serviced the 4runner is way colder. Really thought they would be the same.

Yes. Absolutely the best. I had a 2005 Scion and even when the A/C was working, it was borderline torture in the summer.
The 4Runner's A/C was designed to freeze hell.

The 5th gen 4 runner AC and the Tundra AC is on another level for cooling all passengers. The 3rd gen AC for a 20 year old car is good but doesnt cool everyone in the 110+ az heat like the 5th gen or Tundra especially on a long road trip with the car loaded. The 3rd gen does have a reliable record that might be the best ever though.
