Thinking about an 05 4runner

Well, I'm an old school 4runner person myself. I have an 84, 85, and an 87. But anyways, trying to convince the wife that she needs a newer ride. We just kinda happen to run up on an 05 SR5 4x4 today. Pretty nice runner, that I can tell. It has the 4.7 V-8 in it that seems to be plenty peppy! My biggest question, is there anything that I should look for on these TR4s that I may miss?? Oh, it is around the 100,000 mile mark btw. Thanks for any advice/info!

I have an 05' Sport V8 and LOVE it!
Be sure to ask if the timing belt/water pump has been done. On the V8 the timing belt is due somewhere between 60-90k miles. It's about a $500 job.
You might also ask about the normal stuff like plugs, wires, and other fluids. The transmission fluid is "lifetime" unless the previous owner towed a lot with it. Main thing is the timing belt. If it has not been done, use it to negotiate as you'll be spending the money yourself soon.
Lots of good things about the V8. The drivetrain is solid, 5 speed tranny for more torque, smooth as silk engine/transmission. It truely is one of the smoothest shifting vehicle's I've driven.
Oh, and final thing, the SR5 will have the Xreas suspension as an option, not standard. If it has Xreas (shocks are connected w/ hydraulic fluid lines visible when you look under the wheel well). The shocks are not cheap to replace, so if they are leaking any fluid you may have problems. If you do not have Xreas suspension, no worries. And you can replace the Xreas w/ bilstein 5100's if it ever craps out.
Hope I didn't ramble too much. Overall I love the V8 2005 that I have. Seems to be a great vehicle.

I agree with all except the lifetime tranny fluid, it should be replaced at 100k. Mine's an '05 Limited and the V8 is real nice.
