Thinking out loud, hood duct/louver?

Sorry if this comes off as a dumb question, But I am always thinking of ways to keep the 3vze running cool & bored at work waiting for 3:30 pm to come around. (socal- rarely rains where I live)
Seems that MOST of the time the culprit of the blown HG's are @ cyl #6. *if* one were to install a hood duct, something small and stealth (drop in style like the one in the link, but not carbon fiber lol) allowing cool air to pass through the engine bay and keep the general area around cyl#6 cooler...think this would be beneficial? I also checked out hood louvers...but I am under the impression that louvers are in place to let the hot air exit the engine bay, not necessarily to keep cool air flowing through...right? 99.9% of the time I am against anything aftermarket that can be bought off ebay..BUT just looking for some feedback & to see if anyone has done something like this to their runner.

edit- also read that aftermarket headers are also a nice addition to keep the HG's from cooking

I think headers will do you more good. Louvers are generally installed backwards, so that fresh air scooped up under the front bumper pushes hot air up and backwards. When you put them in the right place they work well to reduce general under-hood temps, but I don't think you could get them to target any one area.

I'm more of a "stock" type of person, and like the original look. To run "cool" , I'd opt out for a copper/brass factory rad and a NWOF(or like) header system with heat wrap(or ceramic coating). From personal experience, the upgraded factory rad is much better then the originals in the trucks. They have improved the core design.

Replaced the radiator, therm, and upgraded to an electric fan. Runs cool... ALWAYS have the fear of cooking my HG though for some reason lol

Get that crossover out of there. Headers, or check mikebontofts build thread, I remember him talking about an idea he had to take a drivers side manifold and stick it upside down on the passenger side to make your own.

I picked up a hood scoop from a '10 Tacoma. Just gotta get it welded on and source the hood insert parts.
