We spend our $$$ on Mods not repairs. Boring is when you have to fix same crap over an over again because factory engineers had a brain fart (ie. Dodge Durango front wheel falling out due to bearing fault or Crown Victoria interceptors exploding gas tank due to unprotected location). Catching on fire may not be boring, but no thanks. I've plenty things I can use my cash other than fixing my ride. Also I rather talk about upgrades than fixes. So, yes boring in this case is a good thing

I'm a wrangler owner too and spend way too much time fixing that thing. I feel like it's bleeding my bank account to death one drop at a time.

Yea its pretty nice, coming from someone who used to frequent the TDI forums. Now all they talked about here were issues, breakdowns, and dealer mishaps!

That's why I stuck with Toyota =P Only thing I've done so far (that wasn't a good thing) is killed the battery by accident on Saturday night hanging out with friends in the driveway having beers. Forgot to turn the engine over every once in a while to charge it...oop :happens:

There are friggin DVD's produced on how to change the headgaskets :bolt:

(My wife bought me a T-shirt with the 3 amigos on it. I was super-pissed at the time, now that the land rover has long since been sold, I think the shirt is funny) Humor and tragedy are so closely aligned, it just depends on your position/perspective.

Not mechanical, but I had to drill out a bolt off the roof and drop part of my headliner to do it to take off my roof rack. (Still need to finish my bastard roof rack thread) In so doing I diagnosed my xm antennae issue. (Another thread I need to update)
I think both have to do with an accident the previous owner had though.

Pics when you get to the XM antenna part please! I want to try to replace mine with a CB antenna mount w/o dropping the liner entirely (if I can). You can be the brave soul to let me know if this works or not
It's also a 5 Gen (current) vehicle, give us 5 to 10 years and you'll start seeing threads that you want to see. For now it will be modifications and preventative maintenance.

There is a sticky in the mod section about turning the the xm into cb. But I don't know if it used the micro coax cable that would be the wired section. My issue is a broken cable that extends from the passenger front window column to the back rear column. They are male female sectioned plugs. Pm me your email I'll send you the cable parts diagram. I'm m not sure the micro coax can be converted, but I don't see why not other than it is harder to work with. Maybe some of our military/communications breatheren can chime in in this.
I suspect microcoax coming from stereo going to the xm antennea could somehow be converted to regular cb coax. While the xm mount be sliced to a cb mount wo pulling down the headliner, or at least doing it wo too much trouble in the rear.
All those coax cables are sectioned. First rear of stereo to by front door post. Up front door post to the next section that reaches back to the rear door hatch post. Finally, rear hatch post to xm. It is direct in, not a plug at the fin. ( I'll re check this in the morning and correct if needed, otherwise leave as is.)
