This forum is boring -- hardly any mechanical breakdowns...

There is a sticky in the mod section about turning the the xm into cb. But I don't know if it used the micro coax cable that would be the wired section. My issue is a broken cable that extends from the passenger front window column to the back rear column. They are male female sectioned plugs. Pm me your email I'll send you the cable parts diagram. I'm m not sure the micro coax can be converted, but I don't see why not other than it is harder to work with. Maybe some of our military/communications breatheren can chime in in this.

I suspect microcoax coming from stereo going to the xm antennea could somehow be converted to regular cb coax. While the xm mount be sliced to a cb mount wo pulling down the headliner, or at least doing it wo too much trouble in the rear.

All those coax cables are sectioned. First rear of stereo to by front door post. Up front door post to the next section that reaches back to the rear door hatch post. Finally, rear hatch post to xm. It is direct in, not a plug at the fin. ( I'll re check this in the morning and correct if needed, otherwise leave as is.)

Oh sorry, I think I didn't explain myself clearly. I meant that I wanted to unscrew the shark fin and replace it with some kind of CB antenna mount/pass-through. The coax cable I will just run new and down whatever pillar is convenient.

Since you've been digging around, I was just wondering if you can get you hand/tools into that area with enough clearance just by slightly dropping the headliner :)

Thanks again for the info!

Without a doubt. More in the morning.

Okay, so the rear pillar covers popped off pretty easily. You don't even have to fullly remove them. There are a couple of hanger hooks that are bolt in about mid way in the rear area. I removed the Oh Shi t handles in the back seat area. These were odd, they are kind of clipped in and the "cap" kind of had a center plug that pushed into the clip. I don't really see how to take them off without breaking the core part. (not the actual clips) But everything seemed to go back together so I guess someone is going to probably have an extra oh shi t when they are oh shi tting back there. Other than that there are three push thingees on the rear and two above the back seat. The rest is just tucked in a bit.

I really only had to access one side, but I was able to get about 8 to 10 inches to work in without bending the headliner. I would think you can untuck two sides and have 10-12 inches of work space around the area you are talking. What few pictures of the ordeal I took are now in my album. Not much to see there, but you may get a sense of the space I had in the rear passenger corner. (the story of which will be in the threads before mentioned soon).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

An idea from BadHabits off of another one of my threads

FWIWI do not mean to hijack but with the headliner reinstall I have used one of those cheap "AS SEEN ON TV" steam only irons. You put the headliner in but do not tighten completely, steam the fabric then finish the install. The steam relaxes the fabric, and when it dries it will shrink tight. This will help with the wrinkles.

This is why I bought a Tundra - the bro's on those forums have five thumbs on each hand, and cause their own breakdowns to keep themselves entertained.

We spend our $$$ on Mods not repairs. Boring is when you have to fix same crap over an over again because factory engineers had a brain fart (ie. Dodge Durango front wheel falling out due to bearing fault
)

Exactly! I loved my 99' but after 4 sets of upper and lower ball joints it was time to say bye bye! The 1st set the mechanic was shocked the wheel had stayed on!
