I jus picked it up today! Its a 2004 sr5, 4wd, v6, 51k mi I`ve waiting a long time to get a 4r! I`ve been driving a 95 honda civic for 11 years! thats right 11 years! Does anyone have and recommendations for good a/t tires that look agressive and handle great in icy snow conditions? I`m tossed up, I hear so many good things about revos, but I like how the goodyear duratrac tires look!

Do you have 16" or 17" rims ?

Tires....hmmm You will get just as many opinions that you could ever want here , it may even start a flaming war here . What size do you want ?? Also have to figure out load rating you want eg: P vs (LT) C,D,E . IMO there is no need to go any heavier than P or LT/C. One of the things to compare is weight of the tire if you looking for a good combo.

I see a drive through the nursery mud trails happening soon ..lol .

Looks great, my 04 just turned 52,000 miles and is running super. I like the color even if isn't white. You should get years of enjoyment out of it.

The wheels are 17" and I don't have a recommendation for A/T tires. I still have the original Cross Terrians on mine.

Sounds like a plan! We'll have to hit up those trails soon before the snow starts flying! I have 17" rims, 265/65's or on there now, I'd like to upsize to 265/70 or 75's whichever ones won't rub! As far as the weight ratings I don't know much about that, I don't tow anything if that matters!

There is more fun wheeling in the snow than you can imagine , I actually prefer it . Just wait till the first kick ass snow storm , I'll best my last buck you will be out playing till all hours if the night .

Snow is my favorite wheeling time.

Mud is fun , but a F'n mess .

I'll talk to you about tires when you stop or call. You would want to go to 265/70/17's . Some of them may rub depending on the shoulder of the tire. Mine have never rubbed , a few other's here have . Nothing that a Sawsall can't fix ..lol.

Congrats on your new 4Runner and welcome to the family! I love silver 4th gens! You will never hate driving in a snow storm again. You will start searching for parking lots that have not been touched by plows.

Looks great! There's lots of tire threads in the "performance zone" section. You can look at 265/70/17's without the need for any modding. That size fills the wells better and is often times cheaper than the 265/65's that came on the truck.



Take the time to learn the 4wd system. It's incredible but if all you've ever known is old school, part-time 4wd it can make you a little nutty at first. Some good reading here:

Welcome! Im returning myself. As for tires the original Revo is on sale pretty much everywhere now due to the release of the Revo 2 just an FYI. Im contemplating waiting a couple more months and seeing how much they are then.

Congrates! Just picked up an 05 SR5 titanium about 3 weeks ago with 61k. Love the thing. Already switched out tires to some nitto Terra grapplers 265/70/17's an really like them. Ordered ome lift kit yesterday and should be here in the next two weeks.

And I have also heard the Duratracs are good in snow/ice (well, what tire is really good on ice?). The Duratracs are going to be my next purchase for my T4R (well, and a ToyTec spacer lift )

Thanks for all of the input! Unless I find a reason not to I`ll probly go with the duratrac`s in the 265/70 size. The info I`ve found on them has been good so far and I like the agressive look of them! Then I have to save my pennies for a toytec 3" lift! Lol!

Thanks! I`ll definately check out the grabbers! I really don`t have a tire preference cuz I`ve never owned a truck before! I jus want to find a tire with good all around performance first and if it looks the part even better!

Very nice looking 4Runner. I have a 2004 SR5 4x4 V6 as well. Mine has 96,000 miles and it runs great. I am going to get the Toytec 3" Ultimate Lift and some nice all-terrain tires eventually, but need to save up some money.

The heavier you tire the more gas you will suck. The more aggressive also will suck more gas . I personally would stay with a P rated tire , better ride , lighter , no not as tough , but I've never had a problem. 99% of peoples driving is on road / snow / rain...ect... Because of these trucks and their 4x4 system I would also replace my space to the same size.

Also some tire places will NOT mount a larger tire , so beware of that.

The only 2 I've owned above are the BFG AT (15 sets of them) and 2 sets of Revos. My next tire will not be either one of these 2 .
