Those thinking about a Daystar lift with XREAS - My thoughts and install experience

Steering Wobble above 50mph

Finally got around to installing my Daystar kit (almost a year after I said I would!) and the install went pretty ok. Noticed a small wobble but figured I just needed to get the alignment done and proceeded the next day to have that taken care of. On my drive home after the alignment the wobble was way worse but only above 50 mph. The shop did a full alignment and also re-balanced the tires to be sure.

Other than taking it back to shop (which I'm going to do) any thoughts on what could be happening here? I've checked all of the nuts and bolts and everything seems in place.

It should be noted that I haven't installed the rear spacers yet and also did a brake job as well as Spidertrax. The wobble is only at cruising speeds above 50. When accelerating or braking there is no wobble. Thanks!

Try taking the spidertrax off and see how it feels. The TRD wheels are already a '0' offset so with an additional 1.5 inches, you're really pushing your wheels out there. I think that might exacerbate any potential unbalance in the tires.

Also, are you really diligent about rotating your KO2s? I missed one rotation on my wife's KO2s and they were basically ruined. Got really loud and had no high speed shake. My fault for sure because I didn't rotate, just seemed a little more sensitive that tires I've had in the past. And I really did like them, I have nothing against the KO2.

Thanks! Yes, I'm pretty diligent about rotating the tires but certainly not perfect. When I take it back to the shop I'll have them double check this. I had the same thought yesterday as I've experienced this same situation on an older Pilot we used to have but I'm hoping it's not the case here. I had also thought about taking the wheel spacers off and will probably try that if the alignment shop can't find anything second time around. Thanks again!

Got this kit installed on my 2019 SR5. Purchased from another member on here. So far no complaints, rides like stock and looks great. Got it paired with some 285 KO2's. Only needed to trim some of the from bumper / did the liner mod. Alignment shop set the caster at like +2.5.

Probably down the road I will replace with some 5100 bilstiens but keep the back spacer.

Anyways, wouldn't hesitate to run this kit.

Marking for motivation to finally put the Ready lift spacer kit on my 4runner...with modified ( clocked position ) front spacers.

Had this spacer kit sitting in the garage since 2017 when I bought my first 4runner limited lol

Now have a 2019 limited

My Ready lift has modified front spacers that are clocked in line so I do not need to rotate the strut or the top spring perch.

Original Ready lift spacer on Left ( with clocked mounting holes) and inline spacer on the right.

Only thing I am worried about right now; is wonder how long the OEM strut studs are and if they will be to long... nothing a grinder can fix :) but hoping I will not need to grind on anything.

Another quesiton... did anyone consider upgraded bump stops to prevent the oem shocks/spring now being able to compress past there spec after the lift?

And did anyone consider a Sway bar/relocation drop kit?

My lift kit already comes with the diff drop spacers.

Bumps aren't a terrible idea at all. But my wife's truck now has 100k on it and the shocks aren't leaking or anything so on a DD its probably not the end of the world. My 4th Gen has become the wheeler of the house though haha. She's basically all road and some gravel depending on where she has to be for work.

cray to think a local shop wanted $350 including alignment to install the spacers and diff drop.. good price ya BUT wanted the 4RN for 2 days :wow::hurt:

2019 Limited NightShade
3K miles
275/55-20 XP wheels ( South east Toyota dealership wheel package with WORN OUT BFG Rugged terrain tires lol thinking Cooper AT3 XLTs are the replacement tire I will be going with

~5 hrs install including lunch.
Ready lift spacers F/R (+3" and leveling)
Bump stops F/R by DURO Bumps/ toyotabumpstops
F. Diff drop
F. Sway bar relocation kit
Skid panel spacers
We took our sweet time :)

Now to get an alignment.
Still tracks straight but
have about .2 POSITIVE camber and perhaps a little tow out.

Anyone heard of waiting a couple days to get an an alignment in case things "settle in"???

Anyone heard or thoughts on the tuff country #54916 leveling kit? Comes with upper control arms and rear springs, I called them up and they said it was compatible with xreas. I have a 2011 limited that needs new shoes. The xreas works fine with 130k on it should I be worried that it will fail soon and need to get full suspension anyways?

Honestly, at 130k I'd probably just swap out the suspension. If you want to keep it on a budget, you can do 5100s and set them on the 2.5 inch perch and either buy a new rear coil or just get the rear spacers.

Do you think the xreas with spacers is worse ride than full suspension, shocks and springs, with upper control arms?
I'm not looking for budget as much as better ride, if the xreas with spacers and upper control arms provides a better ride than I think I would stick with that until they go out.

Had to remove the small front mud flap and still need to do a tiny bit of trimming on the front inner plastic. Overall very pleased, though.

Looks awesome! What spacer lift did you use? No issues with Xreas? What tires and rims... the look awesome!

I think with the TRD Wheels you could have went with a 275 because of their offset.

I had to go with 265/70/17 Falken WildPeak's with my SCS Ray10's. Even after the Daystar kit they still rubbed a good amount. I removed the front mudflaps, pushed the liner in about an inch and then used a heatgun to push the middle of the liner in some more.

3s1kill What rim size/offset did you go with on your Ray 10s?

Hi! Trimming wasn't too bad at all, but I have the factory trail edition wheels so my offset is not as aggressive as some aftermarket rims.

I pushed the liner forward and trimmed the little plastic area that I circled (old pic for reference... obviously I'm not on the k02 any more). I didn't need to loose the little mudflaps but I'm running SPC upper control arms though and have 4+ deg of caster. Also, I custom cut my rocker panels (I have a LE) so it may be different on a trail or SR5.

Edit... Not letting me upload .PNG file. Hold please...

Runn4est did you install the UCA straight away when you installed the DS or not until you went to the 285s? I'm looking at at 17x8.5 rims with 0 offset and 4.75 backspacing and trying to figure out if it'll fit with the DS (Also considering a 17x9 with 0 offset and 5.00" backspace). I haven't decided on a lift yet, but looking hard at the DS if I can fit 285s (likely K02, but also considering the Toyo OC III).

Also, how did you fit the Shrockrocks with the XREAS running along the frame?

I know your question was not directed at me but I ripped out the XREAS and replaced it with Bilstein 5100's and OME springs with SPC uca's. It was worth every penny.

I had to remove the little tiny mudflaps from the front wheel wheel and heat up and push the fender liner more into the bumper. No more rubbing.

Hey sorry it took so long to respond. I swapped ucas when I bout them for my 4th Gen too. Honestly, I don't remember the timeline, but it was after the initial spacer install.

For the sliders, I bent the lines away from the frame rail just enough to slide the mounts behind them. Obviously be gingerly with your bends but it lasted for years.

My '15 got totalled out and now I'm running a '19 with Dobinson's on all 4 corners.

I know it is an old thread, but does anyone know the Daystar 2.5/1.5 Part # for 2019 ORP? Their website list the part # up to 2017 model.

Thank you.

Sorry to revive an old thread. New to the 4Runner, we just picked up a 2015 Limited last night! I have owned her for just over 12 hours :)

I used to have a 2nd Gen Tacoma, sold it for a Jeep, and after that mistake was remedied, we now have a beautiful Runner.

Anyways, thank you for the write up. Every site with a spacer lift says "Does not work with XREAS" I would assume for liability reasons.

I noticed one member had a problem with the CV axle binding under full droop.
Have you noticed this problem? I had a 2.5" lift on my Tacoma, and under full droop, there was no problem. I'm wondering if the 'bind' was possibly the full time 4WD instead of actual CV bind??

Thanks again,

Danny.
