Thoughts on Maxtrax vs Tred4x4

The expedition teams I follow regularly (Expo Overland, All4Advetures, Blue Mountain Overland) all use Maxtrax. That's all I can add

In the research I've done the maxtrax have been compared to carbon fiber and the treds to fiberglass. I don't have the money for carbon fiber but I got in on the tred pro kickstarter because they seem comparable to maxtrax and were cheap.
The maxtrax seem more flexible so they don't snap when loaded.

What do you mean they've been compared to carbon fiber and fiber glass?
Neither are made of either... so what's the comparison?

Higher quality material of the maxtrax versus lower quality of tred. Of course it was maxtrax themselves saying this as to justify the high cost of their product.

some of the guys that use these in desert applications are saying the cheaper models flex more and conform more to the tire allowing for more traction, the folks running the larger tires also consider all of them disposable,so opt for the cheaper versions. I guess a lot has to do what the intended use is?

Nothing beat a Pine log and Rocks found in near by woods on the trail. They have a life time warranty to always find. Can't say much for Desert terrain

That's a horrible comparison. You're comparing composite fibers to a plastic, not to mention carbon composite and glass composites themselves behave differently and are situational for their specific uses. I'd be wary whoever used that as a comparison...

I have noticed that and the amount of use clay and the gang got out of their mattrax this year in Central America was impressive.
Do you know about any other overland shows like xp overland? I am anxious for the next season.
I do think that after watching the Xp overland Central America I will go with mattrax.

CF and FRP are two different things, but when the finished product is, let's say, a hood, how can you not compare them.
They were using CF and fiberglass to compare the high quality of materials to justify the expense of maxtrax versus the cheaper competitor using lower quality materials to make the same product. If you want someone to be wary of, be wary of Maxtrax themselves as that was the analogy a maxtrax rep used.

I think it would be a mistake to not look into the new treds on their Kickstarter page. They've seem to put some really good thought and innovation into the new ones. I'm really only getting them for the sake of others and my truck, much like the bubba rope the ramps will be used more so I don't beat up my rig trying to rescue others.
