they aren't at the top of the main classified section. that's where I was looking for them to be. I had to click an individual section, then I found them.

maybe they are more relaxed here. maybe. but requiring a seller to post a picture and the condition of an item? really, are we in Nazi Germany here?
sure that may help the sale, but that's the sellers concern, not the forums.

Yes, they are. I also Moderate on Toyota Nation and it's much stricter there, but then it's also much larger. The Corolla people can really get out of hand, but the truck and SUV folks are pretty mellow.

I don't look for a 'FS' in the title or wether pics are attached (it's to the Sellers advantage to do so). The biggest request from members was to have the price and location in the title.

But when a post is just titled "wheels and tires", that's lame.

sure a buyer will want to know the condition, but how is that the forums business? same with the pic, where do they get off saying a seller must provide a pic?

For the most part, if any one of us gets out of line there are a couple other mods that reel us back in. I think we do a good job of keeping each other in line and working as a team to keep things straight.

Also, for the most part unless a f/s thread is completely jacked up then it's not messed with. Myself and a few other mods won't touch a thread unless it's missing 2 or more things. The rules are easy: Correct thread title, price, pic, location, description. I don't understand how it's so complex? Besides, that is what a number of members have asked for.

Once again, this is a prefect example of how not everyone can be pleased. We make one group happy and upset another. Guys, we are here to help make this place better. Instead of whining and complaining and trash talking the mods how about you grow up and just follow a few simple steps to help make this a better site?

See rule #4 - inactive threads are deleted after 90 days, possible a mod deleted it for that reason.

Mine got deleted because I messed up, I said that and own it. And the mods on this particular form are not near as power hungry as I have seen in the past, but I do see it. My point was, when you take the time to make a listing, upload pics, write an entire description of mods, write all the information pertaining to the vehicle you are selling...... Don't be a thread natzi. Especially If it's an active member with hundreds or thousands of post. Point out where the messed up and let them fix it. Make decision for the betterment of the community, not just because you can.

Now.....ban me or I will just keep ramblening on about this crap.

EDIT: FWIW, if you are selling a vehicle the price and location should be in the initial post for sure but not in the title. You want people to look at you vehicle that's for sale and you don't want them to not even look at it based on price or location. If you're vehicle shopping on the forum and see a vehicle for sale that you may want.....take a peak inside. As far as I know you cannot edit your title...(right). So let's say I'm selling my 1998 SR5 and in my title I say "FS. 1998 SR5 Ohio 4x4 $9000". But after a few bumps and people passing it by because of the price in the title, I drop the price to $4500. The title still says 9k... Price in title for vehicles should not be required, it should simply have to be included in the original post.

Hm also though I didn't quote it, price in the title could be annoying, I see that if it changes, I had that issue but used my magic mod powers to change it. You can always PM us to change that stuff, but I could see how that would annoy you guys as well as the mods

It makes the sections run a lot smoother if these threads aren't plagued with posts that aren't just asking the OP to change stuff.

Further, I think that the forum has no responsibility for bad sales. However, I helped a dude who had one a while back and I know SV was involved in that too. The forum us merely a vehicle for people to arrange a sale, Paypal or checks or whatever the method of payment is as well as the buyer and seller assume responsibility - it's a free internet forum, not a corporation like ebay. Im pretty sure there is a disclaimer somewhere too. There is accountability on the forum and a feedback section should you choose to use it, it's at your disposal.

On a side note, I have tried to PM a mod to recover and correct a post......I got (4+4) 6 - four score and 2 responses

But in all fairness, you guy guys would loose your mind if all of us man babies started PMing you to change titles.

I think the mods here do a great job for the pay they receive. I know we have a lot of babies and whiners here. We also apparently have a lot of guys who were picked last in gym class and want everything to be equal no matter if you did something to earn it or not. With that said, HOW COULD ANYONE NOT FOLLOW THREE SIMPLE RULES???? I have never used this free service here for selling something, but I went over and checked out how hard it could be. Holy crap, if any of you whiners can't figure this out or think it's hard then you shouldn't be allowed to walk and chew gum at the same time, much less do something that requires even a modicum of responsibility in life. Keep up the good work mods, I understand the level of intelligence you have to deal with. I'm surprised some of these guys even have a nice vehicle like a 4Runner. They must of had one lucid day or something when they bought it and then went back to being themselves.
It's a good thing I am not a mod I guess as I would require at least an IQ of 68 to post here. Again, thanks mods for, if nothing else, being patient with some of the membership.

I agree that I don't think we need so many rules regarding FS threads, and that it doesn't make sense to vanish a post when it doesn't take any longer to PM the offending poster and ask them to fix it. But I've beat on that dead horse before and I'm not willing to volunteer my own time to mod so that's what it is.

I will say that I'm sick of seeing threads *****ing about it though. This is probably something that Admin would have to implement, but what about a forced click-through page? I've seen this on other forums - when a poster goes to open a thread in a particular forum, he lands on a page with a blurb of info, a box to check once he's read it, then he's redirected to the page he wanted in the first place (in this case, the "post new thread" page). Guys miss stickies all the time, and it's not always because they're lazy or blind or whatever, but there'd be no missing a redirect to a page that has the rules for new For Sale threads and a required acknowledgement that the poster has read them.

That way our power-hungry Nazis moderators could delete to their hearts content, and when a whiny b!tch innocent aggrieved forum member starts a "Where did my For Sale thread go?" thread, we can all just sit around and mock them instead of having this debate over and over again. Everybody wins. Except for the whiners, I mean, and who really cares about them anyway?

Problem is then the user can't edit it. Threads aren't "deleted" they are moved to our "trash can" where they can be moved back.

I would really like to see a click through page like KidV suggested, sort of like craigslist uses.

Locking has it's advantages and disadvantages in this situation. Seeing as how we get messages anyways when their posts disappear, they would have to send a message for us to unlock them as well. This would keep people from asking "where did my post go"

I don't think it would look good in the forum however, as you'd have a whole bunch of locked threads in the forum list. Could be seen as "embarrassing" for the poster where when you see a locked thread in classifieds you know why it's locked. Plus, sometimes we lock threads when the item has been sold.
