From what I remember reading, the biggest thing you need to worry about is messing up the TPS by getting carb cleaner on it. The solvents can mess it up. I also replaced the little grommet on the idle adjustment screw. I don't know if it helped anything. The old one was a little loose.
For the IAC valve, I may have used carb, or brake cleaner, I can't recall. You might want to find a write up. From what I remember, there is a little rubber gasket on the end of the valve that that helps it seal. The biggest thing with the IAC valve is to use compressed air to blow out any junk that may have accumulated in the passage way. When you first start your truck up after the cleaning, it may surge a bit until the thermostat opens up and pumps coolant to the IAC valve.
