Throttle Body Source?

I have a 2000 4Runner Limited with 280K miles, and I'm looking for a new throttle body (I believe it is part number 22210-62220).

Currently, my idle sometimes acts a little strange, and I wanted to clean the IAC on my existing throttle body, but screws are completely stripped and I have been unable to remove them, and the throttle body is showing some age.

Due to the age and miles of the truck, I thought I might just replace the whole throttle body with a new one, but it seems to be discontinued or no longer available.

Does anyone know of a source at a reasonable price?

I could roll the dice with a used one on line, and try to clean it up, but I would prefer new one if available...

Any advice would be appreciated.

[MENTION=319302]Bad Luck[/MENTION], yes I saw the one on Amayama for $880 (plus shipping). But I can't believe there aren't any out there reasonably priced. They used to be about $350. I can get one for my 2000 Land Cruiser for about $400 (still available).

Is this a supply chain issue, or are they simply all gone and no longer available? If I knew that new ones are no longer available (or at least at a reasonable price), I would try a used one... That's probably what I'll end up doing...

I personally use good used ones.

You need Also use a JIS screw driver or you will destroy your screws. :(

You should be able to use a chisel and get those old screws out then just buy new screws gaskets and your IAC valve can be cleaned

I'm assuming the are no longer made and US inventory is gone. Amayama is the only place showing new in their Japan warehouse, and that may change once you place an order for one from them. I'd try to replace the IAC screws and gasket like brillo_76 mentioned above.
 
Can you post a photo of the stripped IAC screws? To many members of this forum, indeed many experienced mechanics, completely stripped is a subjective term.
 
I stripped my IAC screws and believe I was able to get a dremel cut off on it and cut a slot for a flat head. Came out easy after that.
 
Toyota stopped manufacturing replacement throttle bodies so the inventory got very expensive very fast. A set of vice grips or above mentioned chisel and hammer will get those suckers out. Also have done the dremel trick on those darn grab handle screws, they were so stuck and nothing was getting them out.

I think what we are trying to say is that if you want to avoid paying $350+, buy a $10 tool and get those screws off.
 
Thanks for the suggestions; it looks like there are no reasonable options for a new one.

I suspect I can drill, dremel, or chisel those screws out, but I was hoping to avoid the risk of damaging the throttle body... Looks like I'll put it on the project list.

I did my LC 2000 throttle body and it was about $475 with a discount! Also LC's have a lot of maintenance items than a 4R! so prices are competitive. Love the 4R...

Current pricing for a throttle body (22210-62220) for my 4Runner (seems like Amayama is about the place with availability) is about US$ 924 (886 + 38 shipping)... I do love the 4Runner, but throttle body pricing/availability is not that competitive (at least for a new throttle body)... :(

We just had Amayama cancel an order due to mfg ceased production. So even at that price, you're not guaranteed to get one...:(

Best to go pull it by your self so you know it is not from a 300K mile truck. Sometimes, you might be lucky to find a low mile 4R in a yard. Which I came across for my car (corolla/Prizm). The car is at 287K miles with original throttle body, but my recent visit to the yard made me to locate a 77K mile driven prizm. Yes, got the throttle body off of it. Yes, it drives way better now! I lube the axle of the butterfly valve and all good!

Tap the bolt with a hammer and try removing it.

I have a throttle body from a 99’ (almost positive they’re the same) if you’re local to San Diego, CA I can sell you it for cheap. It’s not in new condition but it works properly.
