Throw some 15s on. stocks are 16s

Ive got a 99 limited. Stock 16 inch rims. I found a set of 15s that are cheap, I want to throw them on for a month or two to see if I like the black wheels on my 4runner but if my stocks are 16 is it a bad idea to throw on 15s? thanks

Your limited has larger brake calipers that wont clear most 15's without shaving them down a bit.

not as long as you have tires that will fit your 15s (meaning you'll need new tires). i'm gonna swap my 16s for 15s when i get the money because tires way cheaper for smaller rim sizes, plus some nice black rims wouldn't look to bad either ;]

this true as well. my friend had the same problem, but some 10mm wheel spacers did the trick on his tacoma which is essentially the same as a 4runner in the front.

can anyone clarify that a 10mm spacer will be enough to clear the brake calipers? I was under the impression that i would have to use a very large spacer. If its just a 10mm spacer than im going for it also. Id rather run a spacer than have to change out the calipers and rotors for the 2wd ones.

Grind grind grind!. If you research I dont think you really have to grind too much. Im not a fan of spacers but to each his own.

alright, i also found a set of steel rims for 150, 17 inch no tires, I may end up just powder coating my stocks

15" tires

I've been tire shopping lately and was actually surprised to find that 15" tires seem to be more expensive than 16's. As 16's have become the standard they have become the better buy, usually, although I'm sure there are exceptions. I also noticed that fewer tire styles are being offered in 15" as well. I still think 15's are better for off-roading though, so get what you want.

I've happened to have a set of 6 lug 15 steelies from some old toyota and nissan and I attempted to put them on my limited just to see if they would fit, you would have to shave down the calipers quite a bit in order to get the 15's to fit properly. I wish I could have put on 15's tires are cheaper and easier to find, but I don't think grinding down break calipers is a great solution...

15s fit but only some of them, you can't tell unless you actually put them on and check to clearance. also loota off set or wheel spacers maybe needed. i fitted 15s on my truck but the rims are super deep dish, so i end up sticking with my stocker.

I threw 15's on my limited 2000 4runner and didnt noticed they hit caliper until I decided to try and remove my 3" wheel spacers and thought about grinding down the caliper but wasnt too sure about that.
