With the addition of the Fridge I really needed a new battery. THe stock one was barely hanging on as it was. If I used the stereo for 15 minutes without running the 4runner, it was hard to start. Since Sears no longer carries the Platinum series battery I went to it's sister battery, the Odyssey 34R-PC1500. I considered the 31M but didn't really want the extra weight for now, and if I ever do add more power hungry things like a winch, I may just do a dual battery setup.
I cleaned up the hold down and the battery tray. Both still had some mud even after my extensive cleaning of the belly of the beast. Changed out the red anti-corrosion spray coated stock connectors for some Platinum Monster Cable connectors from an old install. I think they look much better. When I started up the 4Runner after the install, I was shocked at how much more aggressive the starter was. It actually spun hard. What a major upgrade.

After going through the same process (less the sound deadening, but that will come soon), I can appreciate the complexity of your audio install. I too have a PDX V9, but am using all type r speakers. I also ran new 16 awg speaker wires to the front and rear doors, and installed a 12 inch sub.
This was one of the toughest and most time consuming installs of my life (4 days lol). Everything that could go wrong went wrong. After working on those door molex's, I began to hate the 4Runner. Good work! :cheers:

Holy cow those are awesome! I just jumped on the Discount tire deal this AM and ordered a set of Gunmetal 17x8 with Cooper ST Maxx 265/70/17 tires to go on my silver '16 Limited. Wheels will arrive Friday. I see some wheels in the forum with the aluminum TRD caps on but when I saw yours I know exactly what I want. How did you do this, airbrush? What colors/paint did you use? I am dying to do one thing that no one else has and the logo seems like a natural way to go.

No, they were printed on the vinyl. I am redoing them with matching vinyl and and cut silver vinyl for the TEQ then will put matte laminate over it to protect the edges. I didn't care for the coloring and the way it turned out. Too much green in the background.
I will post up if and when I get around to having the new set completed.

Moving the light to the front over the fairing helped a lot. I also put a contour into the front bar of the rack so it would sit closer to the roof. And the final piece was adding some rubber weather stripping to the bottom of the light bar so air couldn't pass between it and the fairing. THat stopped the whistling.
It is now quieter with the sunroof open than my friends Genesis with his open.

ARB Awning
I ordered an ARB Awning and walls about a month ago. Autoanything has a low price on them and they were running a 20% off special so I pulled the trigger. I chose the walls over the room as I don't think I would ever camp in it and plan on getting an RTT. In addition, I can use the walls like the wind break panels work so double duty for the same price.
During shipment, the crappy tape job on the end of the shipping tube failed and the awning slipped out and was damaged a little. There was a small tear in the outer cover and the mounting bracket was bent a little. I called up Autoanything and they offered to reimburse $65 if I wanted to keep it. That brought the total price for the awning down to $165 shipped so I said heck yeah. (2500mm series) Both issues are repairable.
Used some pipe hanger brackets to fab up some mounts. Will work for now, and will look at modifying or upgrading when/if I get a RTT.
I haven't even had a chance to set it up yet, but will soon.
*Edit* 4-1-2016 Finally got around to patching the cover and actually deploying the awning. Was a lot heavier than I expected, but at just over 8' should provide some nice shade.

Viair 400P compressor install
I picked up a Viair 400P portable air compressor last year on sale at Amazon. $65 off. I finally decided to hard mount it under the hood this weekend. I was able to mount everything without drilling any new holes and only enlarging one hole on the compressor mounting bracket.
Not thrilled with the location of the manifold, but it is functional and I can reach all 4 tires. Eventually I will probably add a tank and a rear port. All in all, I think it turned out pretty good.
And yes, the gauge is huge. It looked a lot smaller on Amazon :doh:
I pulled the sand plate off the bottom of the compressor and reversed the mounting brackets so they were on the inside. After enlarging one hole, they lined up with 2 existing bolt holes on the passenger fender. I also added a corner bracket to an existing bolt on the bottom and tied it in to the lower mounting bracket. The compressor is very solid. I used a zip tie to pull all wiring looms to the side away from the compressor head.
I attached the manifold to a bolt that holds the rear wiring loom. I used 2 corner brackets to make a U bracket to move it away from the bulk head. Once everything was mounted up, the manifold wasn't very stable, so I added a bracket from the large main loom bracket up to the manifold bracket. This stabilized it considerably.
I took apart the handle on the compressor as it was too close to the air filter to attach an air hose, and ran the steel braided cable to a check valve and then to the manifold. There is a hose attachment, a plug, the mongo gauge, a 90-120 pressure switch and a blowoff valve. I have an upgraded hose that I kept from my OBA on the Jeep and it will reach all 4 tires from this location. The pressure switch is wired back into the cab between the switch and the relay. This turns on the compressor at 90 PSI and off at 120 PSI. This keeps the compressor from blowing up in between filling tires. I clipped off the battery clamps and used the existing wire for power.
This setup will be a lot easier than dragging everything out and clipping to the battery each time I need to use it.

I used a floor jack, some wood and ratchet straps. Same way I straightened out the rack at the beginning. Not perfect but serves its purpose.

The same thing happened to me when I bought my ARB awning. Actually something similar has happened with everything ARB I bought- they really need to get better shipping products.
I used the awning room as a tent on my last trip. Just make sure you stake it down really good. I thought I could just stake down the room itself and it seemed pretty solid but the awning lifted in some light wind.

I have the exact same compressor and I've been putting this off (mainly due to work) because I haven't had time to figure out how to mount it. This just made my day. Thanks for the write up!

The wrap is holding up fine. It is a 7 year vinyl so should be good for years to come. We had some small concerns of it staying down around the TEQ decal, but it hasn't popped up at all, and we were over 110 degrees last year so I think it won't ever have an issue.
It's all in the prep. Make sure to remove all wax using isopropyl alcohol and I recommend tape primer for the underside edges to keep it from peeling back.
This is the one I picked up. Can't say much other than it was easy to install and seems to work well so far.
