TimeZone's 97 Limited build and TDi Swap

Hey all, sorry I've been flat out with work and traveling lately, haven't had much swap time.

However I have just ordered another few parts including a nice new LCE Engineering Dual comp clutch kit. Good for 385 ft lbs of torque, should hold up no issues.

Waiting to hear back on the flywheel and adapter plate, those are soon to follow.

Nope! Have a buddy who made his own and had a stock flywheel redrilled at a shop. He's been running now for awhile with no issues.

Little slow with his shop tho for processing.

My backup is a company out of Ontario called Toy works Autocrafters, who specializes in Toyota tdi builds. He has flywheels and adapter plates on the shelf ready to go.

Recently picked up a new roof tent from a local company in Nova Scotia called Wild Coast Tents. Been holding off ripping the v6 out to make the most of the warm camping weather we've had here. Hopefully going to be a fall project swapping the tdi in. Few other odds and ends done on the rig too in my off time.

PIAA 510s mounted in the bumper finally
PIAA LP570 LEDs mounted in the hoop opening
Projector Retrofits done in the old halogen housings
Plastidipped the Sequoia alloys bronze

Also installing Bilstein 6112s up front and 5100s in the back with OME 891s in 2 weeks..
Tundra 5100s are tired.

You might consider holding out for the 5160s

I wasn't aware the 5160s were available in the 3rd gen platform, At least the Bilstein dealer didn't list them as direct. Think the 5100s in the rear will be good enough for my need right now. The 6112s might even be overkill for the time being.

Thanks for the link via FB. Hope you did the Balance Shaft Delete and check the cam. Otherwise there are a few random bits to tie up on the back side of the engine that are a pain to reach once one is in the car. (Coolant Flange/gasket)
Glad to see the combo in a 3rd gen, keep us updated.

Sorry been busy as usual with work and wintertime here. Currently using the 4Runner to pull the Snowmobile when we have snow. Still gathering parts. Last month I picked up the shifter interior surround and rubber boots plus all the pedal assembly with a master cyl.

Last big piece of the puzzle is the flywheel and adapter plate. Still deciding what route to go.
On FB I follow a page called TDI swapped trucks and there's afew lads currently building plates and planning on selling. Going to go the strongest route possible. Once the snow is gone this will for sure be receiving the TDi this spring.

Roger that. Cam is okay, I checked along with a recent timing belt. Something else I need to find is a non Passat oil pan, probably the steel bottom hybrid pan incase I need to modify. I'm curious to pull the current pan and have a look. I have a sneaky suspicion the BSM was already deleted.
Engine ran waaaaay too quiet compared to my other lower mile Passat DD's I use to have, you could tell the chain was loose on. Either that or upgraded to the gear driven one :dance:

More parts of the puzzle! Finially got the flywheel and adapter plate picked up from the shop. Soon going to mount these to the TDi and try a bench start of the setup and sort out wiring.
