Tint moonroof danger

A film with the same heat rejection as limo, is what creates the issue.........not how dark the film is.

There are some films that are transmit only 18-20% LIGHT, i.e. a 20% film, but could have a heat rejection of 72%..........meaning it is not as physically dark as limo but has the same heat rejection.

I'm just trying to shed some facts about the subject...

However, being in the business for 10+ years I can honestly say that I have never heard of this issue in automotive....flat glass i.e. residential, commercial, etc. Yes, but not automotive.

Yeah, I know. I worded it funny, but that's essentially what I meant.

I'm agreeing with you, but I have seen it in automotive applications. Rare, but I've seen it..

Don't certain "heat rejection" tints actually reflect the heat instead of absorbing it?

Well, somewhat true.....I guess the verbage would make one think that.

It's kind of like a double edge sword, while rejecting it the film actually absorbs it and keeps it from traveling through to the vehicle.

The next time it's really hot outside and your vehicle has been sitting outside, put your hand on the inside of a glass that is tinted and then feel one (say your windshield) that is not tinted and feel the difference.

There is that sliding cover that just does not allow any light through... hmmm....

Why tint the sunroof window anyway? I guess when you have it closed it lets too much light in so you want less?
I either have mine open or when it's closed I have the cover pulled and if it's just angled I didn't think it let in much sun anyway and it's already UV treated so IMO it would be a waste of cash for myself.
