Tip length for the side exhaust mod?

I want to change the muffler with the magnaflow 5x11 oval 12586 and do the side exit. I want to know the length of the tip for those that done it. I don't want to buy something too long! Keeping it "high profile". I want my setup to have the best clearance as possible.

I got 100 views with not one answer. I'll clarify my garage doesn't sell exhaust tips. I did search no good answers, only a guy with a 4th gen that did a 45 degrees exit with a 18" tip. I want to do a 90 degrees exit maybe a 10" tip will be good.

I haven't got around to doing the side exhaust mod on my 5th gen yet but I have this one on my 4th gen and it seems just about the right length (8.5"). SPECIALTY 35171

I'll probably swap it for something different if/when I get a steel rear high clearance bumper but it's worked great since 2008. Almost looks like the tip with the TRD exhaust.

If you want the best clearance possible, why not just use regular SS exhaust pipe instead of a fancy exhaust tip? Your shop can cut it to your desired length pretty easily and much cheaper than a chrome tip.

Is this mod necessary for using a hitch hauler? I just bought a 16 TE and plan to buy a hitch hauler to carry deer and anything else I don't want in the back of my 4runner. I've read on some of the threads that the exhaust can melt coolers, so I'm sure it'd probably do a number on a deer as well, but can't find if it's still an issue with the 5th gens or only on the 4th gens?

I thought of a small black tip maybe it's too fancy for what I want to do. I know that we won't see it much anyway. I'll check if I want to save money on that one.

This is what I'll probably do on my 5th gen and 4th gen some day. At the time though, I had that tip just laying around from another project so I figured why not.

I would probably do it just for piece of mind if I were to use a hitch carrier. I had the front and rear bumper pieces on my TE wrapped in black vinyl when I purchased it. 36k later and the vinyl on the rear bumper is definitely melting away from the exhuast heat. I'm probably going to do the side exhuast mod and get both bumper pieces re-wrapped or painted soon.

If you want to avoid fumes might be good to reroute your exhaust.

At first I wanted to put a cat back but 800$ approx was too much for my wallet right now. Buying the muffler at approx 150$ plus a tip at 70$ I'm keeping the cost low compare to my previous plan we'll see what I'll do.
