Tips for engine rebuild.

Sorry I'm beating this post like a dead horse! Y'all have been awesome helping me out. But I have one more question. I've been reading a lot on valve seals and maybe it could be the type of oil I used.

Mistake number 1: I went to jiffy lube - but bear with me

I had them put in a synthetic blend. Would switching to a high mileage full synthetic be a possible (albeit temporary) solution if it were the valve seals?

If you want to sure, but I'd just use the oil for the time being they put in there.

Most high mileage oils have seal conditioners in them, in short the valve seals more than likely have become hard and the hm oils have conditioners in them that in theory helps soften them up. It works sometimes, but don't count on it to be a silver bullet.

Start with replacing the PCV valve and go from there.

You asked for mechanic suggestions. Guys on this forum have had good things to say about this guy, and engine swaps seem to be a specialty. He is in Wheat Ridge, so a bit of a haul from C Springs. Disclaimer - I have never used him, just bookmarked the link a while back.
