WOW, you just taught me a new trick....
That's why it took so long to get my door panel back on.
(but it was under the 30 minute minimum, more like 15 minutes! LOL)

I missed this write up, would have saved me some grief. Also there's metal clips near the top, sometimes those will eventually deform and not hold the plastic as tight to the door as should be, Either buy some spares or just bend them so they hold tight the plastic -> door.

Omfg. I wish I'd seen this in time. I eventually just hulked the fizzle out of it and after 20 min wrestling with the door I finally won.
Basically, DO NOT PULL UP ON THE TOP NEAR THE WINDOW.

Right! I've seen a bunch of highly qualified folks from here making that same mistake; cuz it's a pretty easy one to make... That's why I included that in my Alpine door speaker post! I'm glad you were able to get it back together lol!

Hey 4Funnr,
You never did share any of the details about your front door speaker upgrade with us... e.g., what new speakers did you install and how do you like them, are you replacing the dash and rear door speakers as well, what about the stock HU, are you going keep or replace it... Just curious,

Thanks for the prompt to post more info.
I have a 2010 4runner Trail non-Nav non-JBL system.
I was looking to just improve the sound quality by swapping speakers and without changing factory head unit or having to do a bunch of wiring. I should have done this 6 years ago, but alas...
Anyway, here is what I swapped.
Dash tweeters were swapped for JBL GX302 3.5" 2way coaxials.
Front door speakers were swapped for Infinity Kappa 693.11I 6x9 3way coaxials.
Rear hatch speakers were swapped for Infinity Kappa 62.11I 6.5" 2way coaxials.
I used Metra mounting brackets and OEM connectors for front doors and rear hatch.
For dash, I followed instructions found in this forum to keep the blue connector, remove the factory crossover, and added blue bass blockers found at Crutchfield.
Overall, it's a helluva improvement. I always listen in Party Mode so I didn't replace rear doors.
The front door 6x9s can handle way more power and were probably overkill, but it's fine.
Now I need to replace my rear hatch lift risers because they aren't strong enough with the added weight of the rear speakers.
Any tips on that?

... smh, I knew I forgot something. I really should have taken photos. But they were relatively unglamorous and nothing out of the ordinary. I think someone has photos of the same JBLs in dash.
I'm not convinced I could get all the panels back on right and they're held on now by a few broken fasteners so I may just skip the photos... Sorry!

Lol! I totally understand; I'm often tempted NOT to post pictures or even to write about some of my installs thinking... who cares! But then I know that one day I'll wish that I had of done the right thing and taken those pics and posted, That's what influences me to write stuff up w/pics hahaha!
