There have been posts with questions about tire chains. I wonder if this product is an easier solution to the chain requirements.

Although I have not personally used this product, it looks like a decent thing, surely easier than old-fashioned chains, maybe even cables.

I do know it is sold to emergency services (fire departments and such) as chain alternatives.

I don't think I would use it for anything heavy like off road use, but it should be ok for road use.

This and others like it look like they might be good in deeper snow and at low speeds. For hard-packed snow on highways where chains are required, I'd be concerned that you'd have a real thumpa thumpa thumpa going on at, say 30 MPH. The traction elements are pretty widely spaced. Maybe folks who've used "chains" like these can contribute some real-world experience.

After reading the info on their site, it looks like they are designed mainly for emergency use. They recommend not exceeding 30 mph, and do not recommend using them on normal/dry pavement for any length of time. I suppose they would be good to carry if you envision getting stuck in mud or snow, but I can just imagine putting on a set while stuck axle deep in mud.
