Mine rub on the stock UCA's just a little bit, but not too bad and it's not harming anything. I've been running them for 2 years now. I've got Spidertrax though. Can't speak to the TE rims.

I had problems with my 285 Duratracs rubbing the spindle on my 4th gen sport edition wheels. They were 1/4" from my uniball UCAs too. I might have been just unlucky because they fit just fine mounted to FJ wheels.

Not sure if this will help you though.
 
i run fj trailteams wheels. they are offset enough to clear the uca with 285s. we had to put spacers on my buddies 03 limited to run 285s on the stock 4runner wheels. i still run spacers on mine to keep the tires from rubbing the frame at full lock
