Tire Pressure alret is on dash, yet all tires checked out fine?!?

so,

the other day i'm driving..and my tire pressure light goes on. So I start thinking ahh great...I've got a flat.

I take it home...check the tires...I see nothing sticking into the tires...and hear no hissing....so then I check PSI on all the tires....


all of them are perfect at 32 PSI.

yet my tire pressure alert stays light on my dash.


what gives!?!?

The only time I have ever had that light come on was because my spare was low on air which is great because there is nothing more frustrating than going to change your tire after having a flat to find out your spare is flat too.

I always thought that it was little elves in the tires. When the tires get low on air and the elves can't breath, they hit a button to turn on the dash light

Or it cold be radio frequency with a transmitter in the tires (All 5 including the spare).

Only problem is that the elves make balancing the tires more difficult.

Every time the pressure light has turned on, I've had a low tire. Most of the time it was the spare.

The key is to keep the five tire pressures even.

Pump up the spare to the max pressure, you can always let some air out and you won't have to fuss with the spare.

My TPM warning light came on this weekend & it was the spare which measured at 28.5 psi. Guess 29 is the threshold?

Had mine come on this weekend up in Shenandoah National Park. I had my tire pressure set at 39psi, since we were doing some travelling. Temp at our house in SeVA was 70. Temp Saturday morning on the Blue Ridge was a balmy 25, therefore resulting in a drop in tire pressure. I keep a dial pressure gauge in the glove box and sure enough, all tires had dropped to 35 psi. After breaking camp and heading down the road, the tires warmed back up and the pressure monitor light dissapearred. Oh yeah, we were temp camping at Big Meadows. Toasty in the sleeping back.

THE SPARE!!!! DOH, I never even thought about it. I was getting ready to take it to the dealer for a malfunctioning light.
