Tire recommendations...

I have a set of 5 Sequoia (17”) split 5-spoke rims and am replacing / selling my stock Sport (16”) “coke bottle” rims and tires. I’ve settled in on 285/70R17 as I want the spare to sit underneath the truck and don’t want to do too much to get them to fit all around. Truck is suspension lifted 3” up front and 3.5” in back.

Going back and forth between the BFG KO2 (A/T) in load range C/D and the new Toyo Open Country R/T (only comes in E, I believe). The truck is no longer a DD but does spend more time on road than off - don’t want to go M/T for this reason.

What would you do?

I just replaced my ko2’s with km3’s also by bfg and I love them, much more quiet surprisingly.. same size as your looking at, I know it’s a MT just figured I’d throw it out there..

I run 285/70-17 E KO2s on mine. I think they're great. I've been running BFG All Terains on every 4x4 I own for the last 26 years.
 
have you considered the nitto ridge grappler or the cooper st maxx? personally id go with the coopers. i have not been impressed with the the ko2... i had a set for a while, had some serious balancing issues and they didnt do all that well in anything.
 
Have you considered Generals?

Over the past few years I've put A/T's on 6 different vehicles, a few for work, for my dad, for my brother, etc... I've put a different tire on each vehicle in search of something better than the last because I found that they were all super loud. Most recently I put the newish General Grabber ATX on the 4runner and its the first AT tire that I actually feel its super quiet on the road. That's compared to BFG, Firestone, Coopers, and Good year.

Just my personal experience. Tires are always an annoying purchase because of all the options.

I always go with Michelin from Costco. They offer a $70 off coupon sometimes and also a 1 cent per tire installation charge of if catch them at the right time.

Michelin's have never failed me and they last a very long time..... On a 70K mileage tire, I got 85K and there was still a good bit of usable tread life. I only bought new ones due to small cracks in the rubber...The LTX AT2's are awesome tires. Used them in upstate New York in the snow and they were incredible.
 
Wild Country XTX sport AT tires. My friend manages a Tire Man and is a 6"+ lifted Jeeper and he runs and suggest these. I have them and they are extremely quiet on the road and perform as good as an AT can possibly be in the snow. I have not personally run them off road but he pays "cost" for tires in his position and he suggests these, so....
 
I recently bought a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3w's (265/75/16). They have done excellent off road and are very quiet/comfortable on the road.

I haven't tried them in snow yet but they are supposed to be awesome (3 peak snowflake rated).

Got them on sale from simple tire for $107/tire shipped, pretty hard to beat at that price.
 
I've been loving the Falken Wildpeak AT3W E loads in 285/75r16. Super quiet on the highway and great traction off road so far.
 
Fantastic recommendations, guys! You've given me at least 4 more kinds of tires to study and your testimonials are worth gold -- nothing like hearing from folks who have tried various tires on the same truck. It is definitely overwhelming -- so many options! I was thinking load range C/D if I could -- get a little worried about the reviews about load range Es being too stiff / heavy for this truck. LMK if that is what you've experienced at all or I should disregard the negativity about E. Price and mileage are the least of my concerns -- I put ~3-5K mi annually now on this truck -- want to get tires I really like.

I'm real impressed with mine too.
 
So far on my 2016 I've run the KO2 in 285, Ridge Grappler in 295, and now the Wildpeak AT3W in 285. Out of all I like the Ridge Grapplers the best, amazing looking tire. Half 2nd guessing myself for taking them off.
 
Geolander AT great tire off and on road plus it handles snow and slippery slush really well.Not as aggressive as Mt but quiet and still looks good.
 
BFG KO-series tires have been very good to me and everyone has them. Great in pretty much everything except mud.
 
I've been happy with my Hankook ATM on the Land Cruiser. They are by far one of the least expensive AT tires out there. I was going to put a set on the 4Runner, but my Pop's was using the truck for a while and ended up putting some Michelin all season's on there.
