Tired of not having a 4Runner!

As I've mentioned in a couple of posts I'm currently in the market for a 4Runner and trying to sell my old VW Jetta.

Luckily now I have found someone who wants to buy it, but I have to get a few things fixed on it first before I can sell it. So I'm stuck with it for a few more weeks.

At the same time I'm having the difficulty in finding a 4Runner that will fit my budget and annoying perdicament of needing a daily driver instantly!

I thought I found a good deal on an 02 at a Ford dealership but they refuse to have any financing on a used car that has over 100k. I have a budget of 7k withough financing and 9-10k with financing. So now I'm pretty much stuck to hunting on craiglist.

I did just find a great deal on a 99 with 90k for $6800. Wrote them an email and I'm waiting to hear back.

This thread is really just a rant but did any of you guys run into trouble like this? Just trying to locate a decent 4Runner without getting jerked around?

Yeah I'm have a problem of not finding any 4runners I like, most of them have more mileage than I want or some other huge problem like being 2WD (Yuck!)

Hang in there eventually you'll find the 4Runner you're looking for
 
Mine has 67k miles... 4x4 5 speed sr5 with diff lock. $12,000 in NorCal.

i just picked mine up last week with it's a 2000,76K for 5K after my trade in sticker price was $8900 it's 4x4 with rr diff lock on it as well, yeah kinda of bragging lol,i hope the search picks up for you! mind if i ask where your located? that may have something todo with it. washington

Don't worry man there is one out there for you. It took me 2 months to find mine...and I had to fly to Phoenix and drive it back!

That's about how long I have to look. I'm in SoCal and I have found a couple of nice ones but not sure if I want one with 160,00+ miles on it.
 
It took me 6 months to find one in my town, when I did, I bought it! This was 5 years ago mind you, but I bought it with 99 000 KM's on it, some minor rust issues, but a nearly perfect interior. By the time I walked out of the Stealership, it cost me $21 000.00! Don't get me wrong, I love my truck, but paid too much! Just a side note, since then, I've only found 2 other 4Runner's in my town that were for sale, and none were as nice as mine was!
 
Dang! I found mine in two weeks! A 96 w/5sp 4wd 185,000 miles and SWEEET a sunroof. All for 6350 O.T.D. I was actually looking for a crew cab truck and I came across my 4runner. I bought it after driving it and seeing the maticulous(did i spell right?) service record file.

It only took one day to find mine, Oct 31st 2002... I was looking for a black one with a sunroof, but didnt get either of those, but did get a killer deal which was not as killer after I asked the guy about how much his warranty was he said he would get back to me.

He never did, and when I was filling out papers the guy said and this is for the warranty, I didnt feel like fighting with him so I signed it and got their stupid warranty which I never used.

My wife got me the best powered sunroof she could find which is really nice, cost me like 2500$

but in the end I couldnt be happier! :cheers:
 
i think you just have to be patient and be ready to drive a ways to get the right one. I found mine on autotrader, craigslist always seems to have some.
 
For me though,

I was handed down my 4runner sophomore year of high school..

Since then, i had been driving it... Honstely though, I'm kinda of getting bored with her... She is cool and all but I want something with more power..

Truthlly, I shouldn't be nagging for another car with the economy being the way it is but Hey, a Is300 for a second car wouldn't be bad.

save up for a super charger ;-) completely agree with the lack of power but then again these aren't rice rockets, but it sure was fun to crush audi's and ricers in my jeep when i had it,
 
Wow I wasn't expecting this much response!!

I'm located in CT and just like a lot of you said its hard to find what I want. I unfortunetly have the factor of budget that makes it even harder.

I'm going to check out the Runner I posted about in the first thread tonight, hopefully its in good shape and they will bare with me while I fix up and sell my Jetta in the next couple of weeks.

I'm going camping this weekend and I was really hoping I could have the truck before I went up there because I'm itching to go offroad!!

If all goes well tonight I will let you all know!
 
S/C would be nice but pricey though...

I rather save up some more cash for an IS instead.

with my 4runner over 200k already, I don't want to put more stress on the motor.
 
I've always wanted a 3rd gen 4WD V6 manual. It's hard to find up here and my wife doesn't support me in this as she only drives automatic. She finally ended up 'convincing' me to get an '09 Rav4, so my dream of owning a 3rd gen manual 4Runner just got dashed. With the new apartment and new Rav4, we just can't afford a 4Runner. :(

see if the toyota dealership will take your wife in on trade(cash for clunkers)...lol just kidding couldn't help myself though....:twak:
 
Thats hilarious!

Took the test drive... Truck drives nice... only thing making me nervous was the amount of cars in the driveway and the fact that the guy looks like he fixes cars up for profit...

But I'm checking the carfax to see how long hes had it... he said 5 years so we will see... btw anyone have a carfax account?
