BFG's only come in an E load in the 265/75's. I went from BFG's to Duratracs. Saw a noticeable improvement on my mpgs. They have a bit more road noise, but I really don't notice it. However, performance-wise I miss the BFG's.
Are your Duratracs E or C?
I like that Toyo tires are made in Georgia too. Do you run them on your rig?
For the Grabbers I actually discovered them a week ago and got really interested in them! Definitely less pricey than the KO2s, and reviews say they're as good as them. My issue with them is the fact that I'd need to get E rated ones...
How many plys do their sidewalks have?
Right now I'm running the 265-70R16 passenger tires that came on the truck.Would E tires be a dramatic loss of mpg and performance?
As far as the Duratrac being weak, some people say that yes, but I've never seen actual evidence of this being "a thing". And they get better reviews than KO2s on many sources.
Actually I have heard really good things about the fun country. I'm not sure why more people don't run them. They have a 3ply sidewall which is a really important feature over the standard 2 ply a lot of tires have.
I'm confused. About a lot of things. But this one is about 265/75 R16 rubbing with no lift. I searched and found threads saying that they will not rub, it's OK. But then other threads say the KO2's will rub, presumably because of the treads. Can anyone help with my confusion?
Hi guys,
First, let me tell you that I've read about every post that relates to this subject. I've been researching online for the last four weeks, and can't make the final decision.
I'm going to go with LT265/75R16 tires, with a 2" OME lift. This is a sure thing.
Now... which tires should I go for? Let me explain what I'm looking for:
- Conformable enough on road and quiet - no M/T !
- Tough; I want something that can resist abuse
- Great off-roading performance on dirt and rocks (no rock crawling), able on snow
- Able to handle muddy trails
- MPG! I really want to reduce the mpg by as little as possible.
So far here is my short list:
- Goodyear Duratrac Load C: like them a lot, concerned by the noise / mpg of such tire (mix between AT and MT)
- Toyo Open Country AT2 Load C: concerned by the potential lack of performance in the mud
- BFG KO2s Load D: don't really want to go with a D Load.
- Dick Cepek Fun Country Load E: well, I like the 3 ply and the off-road abilities, but Load E.. reduced mpg and power loss it is :/
I've researched all of these tires a lot, and here I am. This is not my DD, this is a WE vehicle / road trip one.
I'm in SoCal, might move to PA within a year.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
My vote is for BFG KO2, and I'll say it, in E load.
Everybody seems to turn their nose to E loads...but in my experience, with these KO2's in E load, my truck rides like it got a new suspension.
I have E load KO2s on my 4runner, and E load Michelin LTX AT2's on my LX....which is MUCH heavier than the 3rd gen.
KO2's on the 3rd gen ride so much better than the AT2's on the LX.
To each their own
